It may be recalled that last month there was a dispute between the federation and the Sindh government over tax collection. At the request of the federation, the Sindh High Court had stopped the Sindh Revenue Board from collecting services tax from federal agencies.
Earlier in February this year, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had said that the FBR had made deductions from the Excise and Taxation Department. If the funds were not returned, the Sindh government would not collect taxes for the federation, he said. That the FBR should open its counter in the office of the Excise and Taxation Department to collect wood holding tax.
