Karachi: The Sindh government has given permission to run inter city transport across the province.
According to news reports, talks between Transport Minister Awais Shah and transporters were successful after which the Sindh government gave permission to open inter city transport.
Confirming the success of the talks, Awais Shah said that transport has been allowed inside the city since yesterday.
The Transport Minister said that additional passengers would not be accommodated in the vehicles, all transporters would have to comply with SOPs, if not complied with the SOPs, the vehicles would be stopped.
He said that action would be taken against the vehicles which did not have masks and sanitizers, vehicles would leave from approved terminals ,if the rules were not followed action would be taken against the violators.
The Transport Minister has also constituted a monitoring and inspection team comprising Transport and Revenue officers for the implementation of SOPs.
Sources said that a meeting is also underway regarding restoration of online transport service in the city which will be decided soon.
It should be noted that the Sindh government has extended the lockdown in the province till June 30 and has issued a new order in this regard.
