The Sindh government refused to open public transport despite a request from Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In his statement, Sindh Minister for Transport Awais Shah said that they respect the order of the Prime Minister but cannot open public transport, the number of cases is increasing day by day and in such case transport cannot be opened.
He added that even the factory owners did not follow the code once it was finalized.
Awais Shah said that the Prime Minister wants to make the country Wuhan or Italy by opening public transport? It is feared that the country will become Italy due to easing of lockdown.
The provincial minister said that the prime minister admitted that people were not taking precautionary measures after ease in the lockdown.
On the other hand, the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments have announced the opening of public transport under the code.
It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan had said in a media briefing that all decisions are taken in consultation and it could not be decided whether to open the transport or not as one or two provinces have objections.
“I urge everyone to open up public transport. Despite the deaths in the United States and Europe, transport and air traffic have not been shut down, so why have we done so?”
