Notification issued to terminate the powers of Gilgit-Baltistan government

The Election Commission has issued a notification to terminate the administrative powers of the Gilgit-Baltistan government.

According to the notification issued by the Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan, the administrative powers of the provincial government have expired and now the Chief Minister and Ministers will not be able to issue administrative orders.

Under the notification, development projects and transfer powers have also been withdrawn from the Gilgit-Baltistan government, while local government development funds have been frozen until elections are held.

It may be recalled that the term of the Gilgit-Baltistan provincial government will expire on June 26, after which a caretaker government will be formed for the general elections.
