The National Assembly passed the federal budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 by a majority vote. The budget was approved in a meeting chaired by National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser. No opposition proposal was approved and the Prime Minister was able to resolve the differences.
Last night’s dinner hosted by Prime Minister Imran Khan for the coalition parties also yielded effective results. Government members required for budget approval were present in the National Assembly.
The government had a clear lead in approving the budget, with members of other coalition parties, including the PML-Q, present in the House. The motion moved by the opposition was rejected which was protested by the opposition members and the budget was passed during the same commotion.
Federal ministers, senators, and special assistants attended the dinner in honor of the government and its allies. Apart from them, the allies who attended the dinner included MQM Pakistan, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), and Shah Zain Bugti of Jamhuri Watan Party.
The Prime Minister met the members of the Assembly one by one, listened to their concerns, and took the members of the Assembly into confidence on the budget and the situation in the country.
