According to Arab media, party chairman Mahathir Mohamad has been expelled from the party for not supporting his own party’s government. His party president and Prime Minister Mohiuddin Yassin has canceled Mahathir Mohamad’s party membership.
A statement issued by the party further said that Mahathir Mohamad’s membership was automatically terminated after he rejected the leadership of party president and prime minister Mohi-ud-Din Yassin and sat with the opposition in a session of parliament.
According to Arab media, a key aide to the prime minister has also confirmed that Mahathir Mohamad’s membership has been revoked, but this has not been confirmed or denied by the former prime minister’s office.
Later Mahatir Mohammed did a Press Conference and said he is still the chairman of the party.
