ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa in his message on the occasion of International Day of Peace Missions said that Pakistan’s commitment to world peace under the United Nations (UN) Charter is remarkable and unmatched .
In a message issued on the International Day of Peace Missions, the Army Chief further said that on this day Pakistan commemorates the sacrifices made by the brave peace forces.
He said that the messengers of peace are engaged in the service of humanity in the world, Pakistan will continue to work for world peace under the UN Charter.
In his message, General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pakistani peacekeepers are continuing to serve humanity all over the world.
International Day of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force is being celebrated today.
Pakistan has always played an exemplary role in the UN peacekeeping mission. More than 200,000 Pakistani officers and men took part in the peace missions while 24 officers and 157 soldiers sacrificed their lives.
Pakistan is the only country to send women to peace and security operations, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also acknowledges the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s peacekeeping mission.
It may be recalled that the US Army had also paid tribute to a female Pakistan Army officer involved in the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission in Congo.
The US Central Command retweeted Major Samia, a Pakistani national involved in the peacekeeping mission, on official ID.
