The European Union’s Air Safety Agency has suspended Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) ‘s air operations permit for European countries for six months.
The suspension will take effect on July 1, 2020, at 12 midnight European time. Following the decision of the European Air Safety Agency, all PIA flights to Europe have been temporarily canceled.
A PIA spokesman said the PIA was in constant touch with the European Air Safety Agency and was taking steps to address their concerns. “We hope that the suspension will end soon due to the steps taken by the government and the administration,” the spokesman said.
It may be recalled that the Ministry of Aviation had recently released a list of 262 suspicious pilots. In this regard, Federal Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that a list of 148 suspicious licenses was sent to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and barred them from flying. There are more than 100 other suspected licensed pilots, their details have also been posted on the Civil Aviation website.
