LAHORE: At the request of Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (FOTA), the FIA has launched an investigation into the kidney transplant of the daughter of renowned comedian Umar Sharif.
Hira Omar Sharif died due to complications in kidney transplant operations who was buried over on the previous day.
In this regard, a mail was issued by the Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority under the name of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), which directed the investigation against the kidney transplant surgeon Dr Fawad Mumtaz .
On the directions of FOTA the FIA has launched an investigation into the illegal transplant of Omar Sharif’s daughter.
Omar Sharif’s family has said that Hira Umar died due to alleged negligence of doctors during kidney surgery.
According to the family, 34-year-old Hira Omar was suffering from kidney disease, the operation worth Rs 34 lakh was done in Azad Kashmir from doctors for her kidney transplant and she remained in the private clinic for 3 weeks but her health kept on deteriorating.
The family said that Hira was taken to a private hospital in Lahore five days ago after she was treated when her condition did not improve in Azad Kashmir.
It may be recalled that the FIA had earlier conducted cleanup operations across Punjab, including Lahore, against illegal trafficking of kidneys.
