Islamabad: Federal government has decided to appoint Khalid Javed Khan as new attorney general.
Khalid Javed Khan has previously been posted as Attorney General of Pakistan in 2018.
It is understood that the government has taken a resignation from Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan after which he has withdrawn from his post.
Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan has sent his resignation to the President requesting that the resignation be approved immediately.
Anwar Mansoor Khan confirmed his resignation and said, “I have submitted my statement.
In his resignation Anwar Mansoor Khan took the stand that the Pakistan Bar Council had demanded my resignation.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister’s Assistant Special Accountability Officer Shahzad Akbar told private TV that Anwar Mansoor Khan had sought his resignation on which he had submitted his resignation.
Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem also confirmed that Anwar Mansoor Khan’s statement to the Supreme Court two days ago was not known to anyone and did not include the intention of the government.
Yesterday, the bench of the Supreme Court ordered the Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan to give written evidence or apologize for the allegations made against the judges of the Supreme Court during the presidential reference hearing against Justice Qazi Faiz Essa.
Asked not to answer questions on Justice Qazi Faiz essa’s plea, the court told Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan that it was enough, this is not a procedure, we should not waste our time with arguments without preparation.
