UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed regional security situation and other issues, including Afghan refugees.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Afghan reconciliation process and the Kashmir issue were discussed at a meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
According to the ISPR, the meeting also discussed the issue of Afghan refugees and regional security situation.
On this occasion, the Secretary-General said that UN resolutions on Kashmir need to be implemented.
The Army Chief said that they were determined to achieve a stable and peaceful Pakistan.
According to the ISPR, Antonio Guterres acknowledged Pakistan’s extraordinary achievements in Pakistan’s services and counter-terrorism at the UN peacekeeping missions.
In the meeting with the Army Chief, the Secretary-General also thanked the UN for giving full access to military observers in Azad Kashmir.
Antonio Guttres praised the improved security situation in Pakistan and also praised Pakistan’s positive efforts for regional stability.
