Pakistan has expressed concern over the sales of modern air defense systems by the US to India.
Spokesperson Pakistan Foreign Office says that South Asia cannot afford arms race, India’s sale of air defense system is expensive.
The Foreign Office Spokesperson also said that India could take any unresponsive steps during the visit of Turkish President and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Pakistan.
Foreign Office spokesperson Ayesha Farooqi said at a weekly press briefing that Pakistan has concerns over the sale of modern defense system by the United States to India.
South Asia cannot afford an arms race, he said. US President Trump’s offer of mediation on Kashmir needs implementation.
The spokesman expressed strong concern over the sale of advanced air defense systems (Advanced Instruction Weapons System – AIWS) to India by the US, saying that the defense relations between the United States and India were destabilizing in South Asia. The international community is well aware of India’s aggressive intentions against Pakistan and the threatening statements of Indian political and military leadership.
The spokesperson said it was the responsibility of the international community to stop India from trying to destabilize the peace of the region.
