In honor of the services of the charismatic German Dr. Ruth pfau, who was defeated with leprosy in Pakistan, the Air Force Ruth pfau Medical College, named after her, was inaugurated.
Dr. Arif Alvi, President of the State inaugurated the Air Force Ruth pfau Medical College, along with senior officers of Pak Air Force.
The Air Force will serve as the PAF Hospital Faisal and the PAF Hospital Masuror Art Diagnostic Center at Ruth pfau Medical College, as well as teaching in the college.
Dr. Ruth pfau stepped into Pakistan 57 years ago and established a clinic in Karachi for leprosy patients, she dedicated her life to leprosy patients in Pakistan since 1962.
Dr Ruth pfau defeated leprosy in Pakistan in 1996 and the country celebrated the historic day of leprosy in 1996.
The Government of Pakistan conferred on Hilal Pakistan, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara Quaid-e-Azam, in recognition of Dr. Ruth pfau’s services.
Dr. Ruth pfau passed away in Karachi on August 10, 2017, after a brief illness, and was officially honored with burial at the Christian Cemetery in Karachi.
