Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the new ruler of Oman in Muscat and expressed condolences on the demise of Sultan Qaboos by the President, the Prime Minister and the Pakistani people.
According to a statement from the Foreign Office, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi called on Oman’s new ruler Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, saying that the government and the people of Pakistan were heartbroken over the passing of the late Sultan Qaboos of Oman, and were equally sad.
The Foreign Minister said that the late Sultan Qaboos was known as a benevolent, orderly and peaceful ruler, and during his reign, Oman made ideal progress.
Speaking on the occasion, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq said that the government of Oman is working to promote peace and security in the region and relations between the two countries will be further enhanced in the coming days.
It may be recalled that Sultan Haitham bin Tariq was appointed as the new sultan of the royal family after the death of Sultan Qaboos, who had ruled Oman for a long time.
