Islamabad: The good news for Pakistanis is that the fastest internet service 5G has been launched in the country.
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), 2 mobile operators have been allowed 5G non-commercial trials, which have a duration of 6 months.
PTA says Zong and Mobilink have been granted 5G testing for 6 months, while the permission will be restricted to non-commercial basis only.
On the other hand, the PTA has set up a committee for auction of 5G spectrum in the country, which is expected next week.
The committee will be headed by a PTA member while representatives of the four telecom companies and others will be part of the committee.
It should be noted that according to a report, 22% of Pakistan’s population uses the internet and 5G availability is expected to increase the number of internet users.
As a follow up of the above mentioned policy directions, PTA has granted six months permission to PMCL (Jazz) and CMPak (Zong) to conduct test and trial of 5G Technology under limited environment. The permission is limited to testing purpose only on non-commercial basis. pic.twitter.com/l4WNkXktO1
