ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardari has been released after a bail application was approved by the Islamabad High Court in Mega Money Laundering and Park Lane references.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed mega money laundering and park lane references against former President Asif Ali Zardari, in which Asif Ali Zardari referred to the Islamabad High Court for bail.
The Islamabad High Court had yesterday granted bail to the former president instead of two bail bonds worth Rs 100 crore.
After the Islamabad High Court verdict, the accountability court issued the release of the ex-president on bail. After the release of Asif Ali Zardari, he was released from the PIMS Hospital from Nab custody from where he arrived at Zardari House.
Preparations to bring Asif Zardari to Karachi have been completed and sources say that Asif Zardari will be brought to Karachi by chartered flight from Islamabad tonight, he will be kept in a private hospital in Clifton, on the medical board of Asif Zardari. Professor Nadeem Qamar, head of the Institute of Diseases Heart, is among six experts who will take care of him.
It may be recalled that yesterday the Islamabad High Court had granted bail to former President Asif Ali Zardari on medical grounds in Mega Money Laundering and Park Lane references and ordered to deposit two crores of rupees one crore each.
On the behalf of Former president Rabb Nawaz and Sardar Tauqeer filed bail in the court as one crore rupees, while Raja Sabir and Raja Zahid testified on bail bonds.
On this occasion, the Judge of the Accountability Court asked Rabb Nawaz: Do you know in which case you are going to be a guarantor? To which the Rabb Nawaz replied that yes.
After the bail was deposited, the accountability court issued a release of Asif zardari on bail.
