Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa won the Miss Universe 2019 event in Atlanta, Georgia. The 26-year-old Miss Universe title winner, Zozibini Tunzi, is the country’s first black woman to wear the Miss Universe crown. Zozibini Tunzi works as a social activist alongside modeling, and in particular, she is actively involved in violence against women.
The Miss Universe of 2018 decorated the crown of Miss Universe on the head of Zozibini Tunzi and after being declared the winner of the occasion, Zuzibini Tunzi laid her hands on her head and this time her smile captivated everyone.
The crown of Miss Universe 2019 has been called the ‘Power of Alliance’, made up of 18-carat gold and 1,770 diamonds. Tunzi earned cheers during her closing speech, a new segment of the competition, in which she talked about wanting to empower young women to feel confident.
“I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair, was never considered to be beautiful,” she said. “I think that it is time that that stops today.”
