Major General Asif Ghafoor graduated from the Command and Staff College of Quetta and later obtained degrees from the Command and Staff College of Bandung (Indonesia) and National Defense University of Islamabad. The subject of the MA Degree was Special Strategic Studies.
He joined the Pak Army in September 1988. He has also received the Hilal Imtiaz Military Award.
