Prime Minister Imran Khan telephoned US President Donald Trump and bilateral and regional issues were discussed between the two leaders.
According to the Prime Minister’s House, while talking to Trump, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the release of Western hostages in Afghanistan is a positive development. Pakistan is happy that the released hostages are safe and free.
According to the Prime Minister office, the US President thanked Pakistan for its efforts in this regard. It may be recalled that in the past, the Afghan Taliban has released two foreign professors in exchange for its three prisoners, which Pakistan welcomed.
Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed his commitment to pursue an Afghan peace and reconciliation process for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, and the two leaders agreed to continue working to promote the common goal of the Afghan peace process.
According to the spokesman, Prime Minister Imran Khan also informed the US President about the current situation in occupied Kashmir. Prime Minister Imran Khan told the US President that more than 100 million Kashmiris have been detained for more than 100 days.
The Prime Minister appreciated the continued connection with the US President’s offer of mediation and called upon the US President to continue his efforts to facilitate peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue. The two leaders agreed to stay in close contact.
