The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the Election Commission’s October 10 decision in the Islamabad High Court in the Foreign Funding Case and has requested to be nullified.
The court has been requested that the order of the Election Commission should be nullified, it should be suspended till the decision on the application and the special committee should be stopped from work.
The petition filed by the PTI in the Islamabad High Court has stated that the October 10 order of the Election Commission resulted in the formation of a special committee for the scrutiny of party foreign funding. Has no legal justification.
The applicant is of the view that in its order, the Election Commission wrote that the Deputy Attorney General could not present against the interest of the state by any political party while the state was not the party in this case. Understanding, hiring a will lawyer is the fundamental right of everyone.
The petition states that the Election Commission gave us a decision on the petition without hearing it, so the Election Commission’s order should be nullified and the Special Committee constituted for the scrutiny of the Foreign Funding Case against PTI by suspending the order till the decision on the application. Should also be stopped from work.
The petition comprises a special committee set up for the Election Commission, Akbar S. Babar and PTI’s Foreign Funding Secretariat.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Akbar S. Babar has filed a petition against the PTI in the Election Commission since 2014 over alleged violations of political funding rules.
On October 10 last month, the Election Commission rejected four petitions filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf against the Investigative Committee for investigating foreign funds.
On the other hand, a petition is also being heard by the PTI against the Election Commission Investigation Committee in the Islamabad High Court, in which the PTI has challenged the committee constituted for the investigation of foreign funding.
