National T20 skipper Babar Azam has got a golden opportunity to break the world record of offensive and quality West Indian batsman Chris Gayle and Indian Skipper Virat Kohli.
The Pakistani T20 captain has scored 1601 runs so far this year, with yet another match remaining from Australia in which he can snatch the record of most T20 runs in a calendar year from Chris Gayle. So far this year, representing the Pakistan team as well as Somerset, Karachi Kings and Central Punjab, Babar Azam has scored 1601 runs in 38 matches with 3 centuries and 12 half-centuries.
Apart from this, Virat Kohli (1614 runs in 2016) and West Indian opener Chris Gayle (1665 runs in 2015) have accomplished the feat. Fourth in the list is again Chris Gayle who scored 1532 runs in 2012. Kiwi batsman, Colin Munro is the fifth-highest scorer with a score of 1530 in 2018.
Former Kiwi captain Brendon McCullum is in the sixth position with a score of 1517 runs in 2017, Chris Gayle is in seventh position with 1497 runs in 2011, Pakistan’s Umar Akmal scored 1386 in 2016, Former South African batsman Colin Ingram is in ninth position with a score of 1378 in 2018. While Australian Twenty20 captain Aaron Finch is in the top 10 with 1350 runs in 2018.
