The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) increased the electricity price by Rs 2 to 37 paise per unit. The Central Power Purchasing Agency had requested Nepra to raise the price of electricity, after which the NEPRA approved the increase in the price of electricity.
NEPRA has issued a notification for new electricity prices as per the September Fuel Price Adjustment, which has been approved to increase the electricity price by Rs. It is pertinent to mention here that NEPRA had previously increased the per-unit price of electricity by 0.52 Rs on September 27.
With electricity being expensive, consumers will have an additional burden of Rs 33 billion. Electricity price hike by NEPRA will not apply to Karachi consumers.
