ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat and Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi have arrived at his residence to meet Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F).
Sources say the meeting will discuss important issues including the independence march, the political situation in the country.
Speaking briefly before the meeting with Maulana, Pervaiz Elahi said, “We have come for reconciliation, reconciliation will only make the way. The Prime Minister has called the government talks committee tomorrow and will inform the Prime Minister about all the situation tomorrow.”
Pervez Elahi, Chaudhry Shujaat and Hafiz Ammar Yasser are also present in the meeting with Maulana, while Akram Durrani, Maulana Attaur Rahman and Maulana Abdul Waas are also present.
Sources say that if the agreement between the government and the opposition is reached, then non-controversial figures, including Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, will be guarantors.
Chaudhry Shujaat and Speaker of Punjab Assembly Pervez Elah arrived in Islamabad on a special plane. Chaudhry Shujaat’s meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman is likely to progress on the march.
The source said the agreement to immediately activate the Parliamentary Committee on rigging Investigations could be included in the agreement, as well as a point to set the deadline for the results of the rigging investigation committee.
According to sources, the prime minister’s resignation if rigging proved to be part of the deal and the proposal for immediate electoral reforms could also be part of the deal.
