Saudi Arabia releases 1,245 Pakistani prisoners. According to the details, Pakistani prisoners in different jails of the state were serving sentences in various crimes which have been released today.
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Adviser for Overseas Pakistanis, Zulfi Bukhari has said that Saudi Arabia has released 1245 Pakistani prisoners from jails while Pakistani authorities are in contact with Saudi authorities to release more prisoners. According to sources, the released Pakistanis will arrive in Pakistan very soon.
According to Arab media, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information announced in February that Saudi Crown Prince issued an order to release 2100 Pakistani prisoners during the Islamabad visit. In addition to the 1245 prisoners released from Saudi prisons since the visit of Saudi Wali Aad, nearly 3400 people have been released from the De Portation Campus in other cities, including Mecca, Riyadh, Dammam, and Tabuk.
Remember that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Adviser for Overseas Pakistan Zulfi Bukhari issued a statement last year saying that 3300 Pakistanis are currently in Saudi jails while there are a total of 6880 Pakistani prisoners in the Gulf countries out of which the government have brought back 2559 prisoners. Most Pakistani Gulf countries are imprisoned on false documents, drugs, illegal border crossings, theft and bribery charges, most of which were sentenced to between one and five years.
