Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday telephoned his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Haseena to enquire about her health. Khan called Haseena amid his anti-India campaign on the Kashmir issue after the Indian government revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. Khan has been dialing up Muslim leaders around the world to drum up support for Islamabad on the Kashmir issue.Khan asked her to support Pakistan in Kashmir issue.
Haseenaa’s Press Secretary told that during the call on Wednesday, Khan exchanged pleasantries with the Bangladesh prime minister and also inquired about the treatment of her eyes, which were operated recently in London.Officials familiar with the Dhaka-Islamabd ties said this was the first time since Khan came to power last year that he had such talks with Haseena.
The officials, however, said the two leaders Khan and Haseena had a brief unofficial interactions recently during the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit in Saudi Arabia as their sitting arrangements were made side by side.
Bangladesh in May this year acknowledged that its ties with Islamabad witnessed a fresh impasse over issuance of visas amid reports that Dhaka stopped issuing visas to Pakistanis.The diplomatic row between Bangladesh and Pakistan is on the rise since last year when Dhaka denied a visa to the Pakistan high commissioner-designate.
