Ex Finance Minister of Pakistan Muslim League passes away today as had suffering from heart attack recently and in critical condition for few days .He is also the Ex MNA of PML N .There is three stunts added in his heart surgery but he didn’t survived reported as he was admitted in Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology and was on ventilator for last week.
Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan son of Major (Retd) Fazal Muhammad Khan was born on February 22, 1949 at Faisalabad. He obtained the degree of B.Sc. (Electrical Engineering) in 1971 from NED Engineering College, University of Karachi; and also possesses the degree of M.A. (Political Science) from Balochistan University, Quetta. He was commissioned in Pakistan Army and served as Captain during 1971-76. He has also served as Member of Executive Committee, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry during 1988-91, as Vice Chairman, WASA, Faisalabad Development Authority during 1997-99, as Member of Syndicate, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore during 1997-99 and as Member of Syndicate, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, during 1997-2002. He served as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 1997-99 and has returned to the Punjab Assembly for the second term in general elections 2008. He has visited Saudi Arabia, UK, USA, Austria, Norway, China, Turkey, UAE, Switzerland, France, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
Khan was inducted on 22 December 2017 into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi after he was approved for the appointment of Minister of State for Finance with the additional charge of economic division.Khan said that Ishaq Dar has recommended his name for the slot of minister of state for finance. Khan’s appointment came at time when country was advancing towards a balance of payment crises.He took oath as minister of state for finance and Economic Affairs on 26 December. Upon the dissolution of the National Assembly on the expiration of its term on 31 May 2018, Khan ceased to hold the office as Minister of State for Finance and Economic Affairs
