Army Chief Visits Earthquake Affected Areas

Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the earthquake affected areas in Azad Kashmir today. The Chief of army staff reviewed the ongoing repair work at the damaged infrastructure.

DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor in a tweet stated that the army Chief has advised to restore normalcy as soon as possible. Moreover, Army Chief has also directed to provide full support to the civil administration and that best care be taken of the affected people.

COAS visited earthquake affected areas of AJ&K and ongoing damage repair efforts at Jatlan Canal Road. “Normalcy be restored with speed rendering full assistance to civil administration and taking best possible care of the affected population”, DG ISPR wrote.

Yesterday, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of the country specially Azad Kashmir. As per reports, more than 30 people have lost their lives in the earthquake.

Earlier, Army Chief had advised to send army’s relief teams to the affected areas. But NDMA chief had stated that the situation was under control and no helped was required.
