The Pakistan telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked as much as 17 lakh forty thousand mobile phones as part of it’s drive against smuggled and unregistered mobile phones. PTA had initiated an action against unregistered mobile phones to curb the smuggling of mobile phones.
According to the statistics shown by PTA, at this moment as much as one million mobile phones in the market are unregistered. As per the new policy of PTA, an unregistered mobile phone will be blocked two months after it is turned on. This means you have to register your mobile phone within two months after inserting your sim card in.
On the other hand, FBR has abolished the facility of one tax free mobile phone for foreigners and Pakistani expats.
