The milk prices in some parts of the country has skyrocketed. On the occasion of ashura the milk prices in some parts of the country has gone as high as 140 rupees per liter.
The latest hike in the milk prices means that milk is currently much costly than petrol and diesel in the country. At the moment a liter of petrol and diesel costs 113 and 91 rupees per liter respectively. According to various media reports, milk is being sold at 140 rupees per liter in most parts of Sindh.
The sudden hike in milk prices is reportedly due to the high demand during ashura. As milk, water and cold drinks are served to the participants of the ashura processions. The demand increased which had a direct impact on the milk prices.
