The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will reportedly pay Misbah ul Haq a whopping over Rs3 million (30 lakhs) every month for performing the dual role of the national team’s head coach and chief selector.
Misbah had reportedly wanted to be paid just as much as his predecessor, Mickey Arthur but the PCB had initially shown a reluctance to do so.
Misbah-ul-Haq will replace Mickey Arthur, who was earning $20,000 per month, which is Rs. 3,150,000 (Rs. 3.15 million). This amount will now be earned by the newly appointed coach.
Overall, Misbah is set to earn Rs. 37,800,000 (Rs. 37.62 million) on an annual basis.Sources added former chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq who pocketed Rs1.6 million for his role.
Misbah will be Pakistan’s 30th head coach — but it is the first time that the head coach will also be the chief selector, along the lines of the system in New Zealand.
Another former captain, legendary paceman Waqar Younis, was named as bowling coach for three years. He had two previous stints as head coach. This video is here to pay tribute to Misbah as a head coach and chief selector as well.
