Misquoting Hindus in Pakistan

Posted on March 30, 2016

Frequently from a lot of right wing liberals from India we Pakistani’s find an inquiry. Pakistan has displaced, force converted Hindus in Pakistan. How many Hindus in Pakistan exist today etc.

Let us look at it from a statistics perspective.

At the time of partition about 4.1 million Hindus and Sikhs left for India. Today we have about 4 million Hindus living in Pakistan according to PBS (Pakistan Bureau of Statistics)

The reason why I quote 4 million is because the above report is from 1998. According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism_in_Pakistan) in 2005 this number was measured to be around 2.5-4 million. Based on timeline from 1998 to 2016 at present we can assess the number of Hindus to be around 4 million.

My great hope in sharing this information is to enable viewers on ZemTV to see this fact in statistical perspective and reduce hatred among Pakistani’s and Indian’s which regularly exchange opinions here.
