Senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders, Dr Farooq Sattar, Nasreen Jalil and Waseem Akhtar have left for London to attend the party’s Rabitaa Committee’s meeting.
According to sources, the meeting would discuss and decide MQM’s course of action in the post Local government polls situation in Karachi.
Party’s decision making body will also finalize the name of its candidate for the slot of Karachi’s mayor.
Ali Zaidi, the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi chapter, also contacted Farooq Sattar before the three MQM leaders’ departure for London and agreed that the mayor for Karachi should be an individual with due authority and power.
“Karachi’s mayor should have the powers like those of the mayor in PTI-governed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province,” both leaders agreed.
