Islamabad – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has finally broken his silence over rumors of marriage with TV anchor Reham Khan, saying they are ‘greatly exaggerated’.
The rumors about Imran and Reham’s marriage were subject to intense speculation from several weeks and the hype intensified on Wednesday after Daily Mail claimed that the sources close to couple have confirmed them that they tied the knot in a secret-ceremony on the weekend.
The newspaper said that Imran’s sisters were against this marriage and it left them surprised.
However, PTI chief took microblogging Twitter to clear the air about marriage.
Earlier, conversing to Daily Mail, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan also dispelled the rumors of his brother’s marriage and saying his political rivals were spreading such news and that he has no intention to remarry.
“This is the only way they know how to attack him. These are the tactics they stoop to. I spoke to my brother a few days ago and it isn’t true,” she said.
“I don’t know if they are in a relationship. Here you are either getting married or you are not.
“We’d be extremely happy if he marries a good person and settles down. But it is not just his consideration, it’s a consideration for the country.”
Daily Mail report had said that Imran’s close relatives, particularly sisters, were against this marriage and it left them surprised.
It also said former cricketer’s family and members his party left no stone unturned to prevent this marriage but couldn’t succeed.
The newspaper also said that Imran and Reham could make official announcement of their marriage in new year.
About Reham, the newspaper wrote that she is a divorced mother of three and has previously worked as presenter on BBC regional news programme ‘South Today’. Now a days she is working as an anchorperson at AAJ TV.
