Samia Adnan, n experienced writer tells her secret of saving Kitchen time during Ramadan
Alhamdullah, once again the holy month of Ramadan is here, with its blessings and inner-peace. So why not get the maximum of this month, by saving your kitchen time? Ladies have the responsibility of preparing sehr and iftar along with their other household chores like washing clothes, ironing etc that they hardly get ample time for ibadah. So I thought to share some of my ideas with the rest of busy ladies to save their time.
Segr time:Prepare your meal before isha prayer
Make it simple. Drink a lot of water. Make lemonade for sehri at night, so there is a a lot of time for offering tahajjud, nawafils and making supplications at the early hours of night, instead of just standing in the kitchen at the sehr time.
Make chappatis and paratahas half ready or use frozen roti and parathas. Those that only need little frying.
You can prepare at home too, make parathas (without heating them) on stove, just place them on butter paper and put them in a plastic bag and freeze. It will save the time in preparing it at sehr time.
Make omelettes, fry kebabs, boil eggs what ever you want to have at sehri after saying your maghrib prayer – so that you can have half of your sehri prepared before you seep. Try sleeping immediately afte your Isha prayer. This will make you feel fresh at sehr
Eat light and healthy at iftar:
Try eating dates, fresh fruits, vegetables, yogurt instead of heavy iftari. Water is most important at both iftar and sehr. Yu can make smoothies, fruit shakes or juices too.
Avoid heavy on tummy diet and deep fried items. It will keep you healthy and active. Eating too much at sehri and iftar makes on lazy and sleepy.
Take dinner along with iftari – just a roti with some quick to make vegetables or chicken (simply cooked in yogurt, salt and black pepper), would do it this summer.
