It all started way back in 1979, when floods washed a large number of snakes ashore on the sandbar. One day, after the waters had receded, Payeng, only 16 then, found the place dotted with the dead reptiles. That was the turning point of his life.
“The snakes died in the heat, without any tree cover. I sat down and wept over their lifeless forms. It was carnage. I alerted the forest department and asked them if they could grow trees there. They said nothing would grow there. Instead, they asked me to try growing bamboo. It was painful, but I did it. There was nobody to help me. Nobody was interested,” says Payeng, now 47.
While it’s taken years for Payeng’s remarkable dedication to planting to receive some well-deserved recognition internationally, it didn’t take long for wildlife in the region to benefit from the manufactured forest. Demonstrating a keen understanding of ecological balance, Payeng even transplanted ants to his burgeoning ecosystem to bolster its natural harmony. Soon the shadeless sandbar was transformed into a self-functioning environment where a menagerie of creatures could dwell. The forest, called the Molai woods, now serves as a safe haven for numerous birds, deer, rhinos, tigers and elephants — species increasingly at risk from habitat loss.
Despite the conspicuousness of Payeng’s project, forestry officials in the region first learned of this new forest in 2008 — and since then they’ve come to recognize his efforts as truly remarkable, but perhaps not enough.

I think the only brave leader who talks about issues for the common person is Dr Qadri. The rest just interested in their political mileage. He is the most knowledgeable and the one who has achieved most for Pakistan. He has provided over 600 schools, orphan care homes and many other welfare projects, written over 1000 books, network in over 90 countries, defended Islam against western academics who were portraying a negative image of Islam. This is a fake survey. Trust me no match of Dr. Tahir ul Qadri. He is a leader of international repute. Even his opponents acknowledge his speech, his wisdom & his education. We public want to vote for him but due to a psychological matter that his party will not win we don't want to waste our vote. As far as his personality is concerned he is impeccable. Nawaz & Imran might be similar in characteristics. Still I guess even Imran is better debater. His honesty and patriotism can be known only if he comes to power. I can't comment on it. People are different in opposition than in Govt. they forget their promises, principals, righteous attitude when they come to power. People of Pakistan are deceived again & again. When Nawaz is in opposition he is too attractive. Similarly when PPP is in opposition she attracts the public. Opposition is too easy to exploit the situation. She can remind the public that during their tenure wheat flour was 10% cheaper than today's Govt. we had completed this & that project which is not seen any more. This type of analysis can influence the illiterate public such as of Pakistan. I am afraid this chain will continue until literacy rate rises sharply in Pakistan and change appears in our politics people elect true representatives.
I guess there should be code of conduct for politicians. Any politician who misguide the innocent public of this country and if he is proved of such act article 62 & 63 should also be imposed on him. For example Govt. often gives wrong figures of inflation & economic indicators. They tell the public that they have completed these projects. But they don't tell how much loan they got during their tenure. How much corruption occurred. and above all how much damage is caused to economy. For example Punjab Govt. completed several projects but drained treasury completely. Today there is severe shortage of public servants in important positions. Budget cuts have been imposed on important departments. What the hell is this? Media even doesn't make technical analysis that will clearly shows performance of various political parties. In absolute analysis Punjab Govt. is too bad. But in comparative analysis it is best of other govts. in Pakistan.
