Imran Khan Niazi HI PP ASA FRCPE (Urdu: عمران خان نیازی; born 25 November 1952), known as Imran Khan (Urdu: عمران خان ), is a Pakistani politician and former cricketer. He played international cricket for two decades in the late twentieth century and, after retiring, entered politics. Besides his political activism, Khan is also a philanthropist, cricket commentator, Chancellor of the University of Bradford and Founding Chairman Board of Governors of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.

He was Pakistan's most successful cricket captain famous for his leadership in letting win 1992 Cricket World Cup, playing for the Pakistani cricket team from 1971 to 1992, and serving as its captain intermittently throughout 1982–1992.[1] After retiring from cricket at the end of the 1987 World Cup in 1988, due to popular public demand he was requested to come back by the president of Pakistan to lead the team once again. At 39, Khan led his teammates to Pakistan's first and only World Cup victory in 1992. He has a record of 3807 runs and 362 wickets in Test cricket, making him one of eight world cricketers to have achieved an 'All-rounder's Triple' in Test matches.[2] On 14 July 2010, Khan was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.[3]

In April 1996, Khan founded and became the chairman of a political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Movement for Justice).[4] He represented Mianwali as a member of the National Assembly from November 2002 to October 2007.[5] Foreign Policy magazine described him as "Pakistan's Ron Paul".[6] Through worldwide fundraising, he founded the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in 1996 and Mianwali's Namal College in 2008.

    Personal life

    Background

Khan was born in Lahore, the only son of Ikramullah Khan Niazi, a civil engineer, and his wife Shaukat Khanum.[7] Although long settled in Mianwali in northwestern Punjab, the family were of Pashtun ethnicity and belonged to the Niazi Shermankhel tribe.[8] A quiet and shy boy in his youth, Khan grew up with his four sisters in relatively affluent (upper middle-class) circumstances[9] and received a privileged education. He was educated at the Cathedral School in Lahore, the Royal Grammar School Worcester in England, where he excelled at cricket, and at Aitchison College, Lahore. In 1972, he enrolled to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Keble College, Oxford, where he graduated with a second-class degree in Politics and a third in Economics.[10] Khan's mother hailed from the Burki family which had produced several successful hockey players,[7] as also cricketers such as Javed Burki and Majid Khan.[8] Early in life, Khan developed an interest in cricket, which is an extremely popular sport in Pakistan.

    Marriage to Jemima

On 16 May 1995, Khan married Jemima Goldsmith, in an Islamic ceremony in Paris. A month later, on 21 June, they were married again in a civil ceremony at the Richmond register office in England, followed by a reception at the Goldsmiths' house in Surrey.[11] The marriage, described as "tough" by Khan,[8] produced two sons, Sulaiman Isa (born 18 November 1996) and Kasim (born 10 April 1999).[12] As an agreement of his marriage, Khan spent four months a year in England. On 22 June 2004, it was announced that the Khans had divorced because it was "difficult for Jemima to adapt to life in Pakistan".[13] The marriage ended amicably. Imran has regular access to his children and his relationship with his ex-wife is friendly. Khan now resides alone in Bani Gala, Islamabad, a 300 kanal house plus farmhouse which he built with the money he initially borrowed from his wife and re-paid after selling his London flat. He grows fruit trees, wheat, and keeps cows and dogs, while also maintaining a cricket ground for his two sons, who visit during their holidays.[8]

Khan made a lacklustre first-class cricket debut at the age of sixteen in Lahore. By the start of the 1970s, he was playing for his home teams of Lahore A (1969–70), Lahore B (1969–70), Lahore Greens (1970–71) and, eventually, Lahore (1970–71).[14] Khan was part of Oxford University's Blues Cricket team during the 1973–75 seasons.[10] At Worcestershire, where he played county cricket from 1971 to 1976, he was regarded as only an average medium pace bowler. During this decade, other teams represented by Khan include Dawood Industries (1975–76) and Pakistan International Airlines (1975–76 to 1980–81). From 1983 to 1988, he played for Sussex.[2]

In 1971, Khan made his Test cricket debut against England at Birmingham. Three years later, he debuted in the One Day International (ODI) match, once again playing against England at Nottingham for the Prudential Trophy. After graduating from Oxford and finishing his tenure at Worcestershire, he returned to Pakistan in 1976 and secured a permanent place on his native national team starting from the 1976–77 season, during which they faced New Zealand and Australia.[14] Following the Australian series, he toured the West Indies, where he met Tony Greig, who signed him up for Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket.[2] His credentials as one of the fastest bowlers of the world started to establish when he finished third at 139.7 km/h in a fast bowling contest at Perth in 1978, behind Jeff Thomson and Michael Holding, but ahead of Dennis Lillee, Garth Le Roux and Andy Roberts.[2]

As a fast bowler, Khan reached the peak of his powers in 1982. In 9 Tests, he got 62 wickets at 13.29 each, the lowest average of any bowler in Test history with at least 50 wickets in a calendar year.[15] In January 1983, playing against India, he attained a Test bowling rating of 922 points. Although calculated retrospectively (ICC player ratings did not exist at the time), Khan's form and performance during this period ranks third in the ICC's All-Time Test Bowling Rankings.[16]

Khan achieved the all-rounder's triple (securing 3000 runs and 300 wickets) in 75 Tests, the second fastest record behind Ian Botham's 72. He is also established as having the second highest all-time batting average of 61.86 for a Test batsman playing at position 6 of the batting order.[17] He played his last Test match for Pakistan in January 1992, against Sri Lanka at Faisalabad. Khan retired permanently from cricket six months after his last ODI, the historic 1992 World Cup final against England at Melbourne, Australia.[18][not in citation given] He ended his career with 88 Test matches, 126 innings and scored 3807 runs at an average of 37.69, including six centuries and 18 fifties. His highest score was 136 runs. As a bowler, he took 362 wickets in Test cricket, which made him the first Pakistani and world's fourth bowler to do so.[2] In ODIs, he played 175 matches and scored 3709 runs at an average of 33.41. His highest score remains 102 not out. His best ODI bowling is documented at 6 wickets for 14 runs.

    Captaincy

At the height of his career, in 1982, the thirty-year-old Khan took over the captaincy of the Pakistan cricket team from Javed Miandad. Recalling his initial discomfort with this new role, he later said, "When I became the cricket captain, I couldn’t speak to the team directly I was so shy. I had to tell the manager, I said listen can you talk to them, this is what I want to convey to the team. I mean early team meetings I use to be so shy and embarrassed I couldn’t talk to the team."[19] As a captain, Khan played 48 Test matches, out of which 14 were won by Pakistan, 8 lost and the rest of 26 were drawn. He also played 139 ODIs, winning 77, losing 57 and ending one in a tie.[2]

In the team's second match under his leadership, Khan led them to their first Test win on English soil for 28 years at Lord's.[20] Khan's first year as captain was the peak of his legacy as a fast bowler as well as an all-rounder. He recorded the best Test bowling of his career while taking 8 wickets for 58 runs against Sri Lanka at Lahore in 1981–82.[2] He also topped both the bowling and batting averages against England in three Test series in 1982, taking 21 wickets and averaging 56 with the bat. Later the same year, he put up a highly acknowledged performance in a home series against the formidable Indian team by taking 40 wickets in six Tests at an average of 13.95. By the end of this series in 1982–83, Khan had taken 88 wickets in 13 Test matches over a period of one year as captain.[14]

Imran Khan's test career bowling statistics

This same Test series against India, however, also resulted in a stress fracture in his shin that kept him out of cricket for more than two years. An experimental treatment funded by the Pakistani government helped him recover by the end of 1984 and he made a successful comeback to international cricket in the latter part of the 1984–85 season.[2]

In 1987, Khan led Pakistan to its first ever Test series win in India, which was followed by Pakistan's first series victory in England the same year.[20] During the 1980s, his team also recorded three creditable draws against the West Indies. India and Pakistan co-hosted the 1987 World Cup, but neither ventured beyond the semi-finals. Khan retired from international cricket at the end of the World Cup. In 1988, he was asked to return to the captaincy by the president Of Pakistan, General Zia-Ul-Haq, and on 18 January, he announced his decision to rejoin the team.[2] Soon after returning to the captaincy, Khan led Pakistan to another winning tour in the West Indies, which he has recounted as "the last time I really bowled well".[8] He was declared Man of the Series against West Indies in 1988 when he took 23 wickets in 3 tests.[2]

Khan's career-high as a captain and cricketer came when he led Pakistan to victory in the 1992 Cricket World Cup. Playing with a brittle batting line-up, Khan promoted himself as a batsman to play in the top order along with Javed Miandad, but his contribution as a bowler was minimal. At the age of 39, Khan took the winning last wicket himself.[14]

    Post-retirement

In 1994, Khan had admitted that, during Test matches, he "occasionally scratched the side of the ball and lifted the seam." He had also added, "Only once did I use an object. When Sussex were playing Hampshire in 1981 the ball was not deviating at all. I got the 12th man to bring out a bottle top and it started to move around a lot."[21] In 1996, Khan successfully defended himself in a libel action brought forth by former English captain and all-rounder Ian Botham and batsman Allan Lamb over comments they alleged were made by Khan in two articles about the above-mentioned ball-tampering and another article published in an Indian magazine, India Today. They claimed that, in the latter publication, Khan had called the two cricketers "racist, ill-educated and lacking in class." Khan protested that he had been misquoted, saying that he was defending himself after having admitted that he tampered with a ball in a county match 18 years ago.[22] Khan won the libel case, which the judge labelled a "complete exercise in futility", with a 10–2 majority decision by the jury.[22]

Since retiring, Khan has written opinion pieces on cricket for various British and Asian newspapers, especially regarding the Pakistani national team. His contributions have been published in India's Outlook magazine,[23] the Guardian,[24] the Independent, and the Telegraph. Khan also sometimes appears as a cricket commentator on Asian and British sports networks, including BBC Urdu[25] and the Star TV network.[26] In 2004, when the Indian cricket team toured Pakistan after 14 years, he was a commentator on TEN Sports' special live show, Straight Drive,[27] while he was also a columnist for sify.com for the 2005 India-Pakistan Test series.[28] He has provided analysis for every cricket World Cup since 1992, which includes providing match summaries for BBC during the 1999 World Cup.[28]

In November 2009 Khan underwent emergency surgery at Lahore's Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital to remove an obstruction in his small intestine.[29]

    Works

    Social

For more than four years after retiring from cricket in 1992, Khan focused his efforts solely on social work. By 1991, he had founded the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, a charity organisation bearing the name of his mother, Mrs. Shaukat Khanum. As the Trust's maiden endeavour, Khan established Pakistan's first and only cancer hospital, constructed using donations and funds exceeding $25 million, raised by Khan from all over the world.[4] Inspired by the memory of his mother, who died of cancer, the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, a charitable cancer hospital with 75 percent free care, opened in Lahore on 29 December 1994.[8] Khan currently serves as the chairman of the hospital and continues to raise funds through charity and public donations.[30]

During the 1990s, Khan also served as UNICEF's Special Representative for Sports[31] and promoted health and immunisation programmes in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand.[32]

On 27 April 2008, Khan's brainchild, a technical college in the Mianwali District called Namal College, was inaugurated. Namal College was built by the Mianwali Development Trust (MDT), as chaired by Khan, and was made an associate college of the University of Bradford (of which Khan is Chancellor) in December 2005.[33] Currently, Khan is building another cancer hospital in Karachi, using his successful Lahore institution as a model. While in London, he also works with the Lord’s Taverners, a cricket charity.[4]

    Political

Imran Khan, Chairman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in World Economic Forum

In 1996, Khan founded a political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which emphasized on anti-corruption policies.[8][34] The newly formed party was unable to win a seat during the 1997 Pakistani general election.[35] Khan supported General Pervez Musharraf's military coup in 1999,[36] believing Musharraf would "end corruption, clear out the political mafias".[37] According to Khan, he was Musharraf's choice of prime minister in 2002 but turned down the offer.[38] The 2002 Pakistani general election were held in October across 272 constituencies. Khan anticipated doing well in the elections and was prepared to form a coalition if his party did not get a majority of the vote.[39] He was elected from the NA-71 constituency of Mianwali and being the only party member to have secured a seat, PTI won only 0.8% of the popular vote. Khan, who was sworn in as an MP on 16 November,[40] remained part of the Standing Committees on Kashmir and Public Accounts, and expressed legislative interest in Foreign Affairs, Education and Justice.[41]

On 6 May 2005, Khan became one of the first Muslim figures to criticise a 300-word Newsweek story about the alleged desecration of the Qur'an in a U.S. military prison at the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba. Khan held a press conference to denounce the article and demanded that Gen. Pervez Musharraf secure an apology from the American president George W. Bush for the incident.[42] In June 2007, the federal Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Sher Afghan Khan Niazi and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) party filed separate ineligibility references against Khan, asking for his disqualification as member of the National Assembly on grounds of immorality. Both references, filed on the basis of articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan, were rejected on 5 September.[43]

“ “Most of our mainstream politicians make money through politics and then use politics to protect that money. … I’m not interested in those kinds of politicians.” ”

    —Imran Khan, 2010

On 2 October 2007, as part of the All Parties Democratic Movement, Khan joined 85 other MPs to resign from Parliament in protest of the presidential election scheduled for 6 October, which General Musharraf was contesting without resigning as army chief.[5] On 3 November 2007, Khan was put under house arrest at his father's home hours after president Musharraf declared a state of emergency in Pakistan. Khan had demanded the death penalty for Musharraf after the imposition of emergency rule, which he equated to "committing treason". The next day, on 4 November, Khan escaped and went into peripatetic hiding.[44] He eventually came out of hiding on 14 November to join a student protest at the University of the Punjab.[45] At the rally, Khan was captured by students from the Jamaat-i-Islami political party, who claimed that Khan was an uninvited nuisance at the rally, and they handed him over to the police, who charged him under the Anti-terrorism act for allegedly inciting people to pick up arms, calling for civil disobedience, and for spreading hatred.[46]

On 30 October 2011, Khan changed the political picture of the country by addressing more than 100,000 supporters in Lahore, challenging the policies of the current government, calling this new change a "tsunami" against the ruling parties,[47] followed by another successful public gathering of 250,000 supporters in Karachi on 25 December 2011.[48] Since then Imran Khan has become a real threat for the current ruling parties and future political prospect in Pakistan. According to International Republican Institute (IRI)'s survey, Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tops the list of popular parties in Pakistan both at the national as well as provincial level, leaving Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peopleís Party (PPP) behind.[49] On 30 June 2012, It is because of the principled stance of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on the critical issues faced by the country that a survey conducted by an international research organisation has found him the most popular leader of the country, the party said in a statement on Friday. According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Centre under its Global Attitudes project, the PTI chief has 70 percent approval ratings, moving up the list by 18 percentage points over the past two years. In 2010, his ratings stood at 52 percent.[50]

On 6 October 2012, Khan led a vehicle caravan of protesters from Islamabad to the village of Kotai in Pakistan's South Waziristan region. The purpose of this demonstration was to protest U.S. drone missile strikes against Islamic militants in Pakistan's tribal regions. Khan was joined by a number of Americans, including members of Code Pink, a U.S. based anti-drone activist group. Some observers suggested that part of Khan's motivation for the public rally was to build support for his PTI party ahead of national elections in 2013.[51]

    Ideology

Imran Khan addressing a crowd at Hyderabad.

“ “If I come into power, my goal would be to make Pakistan a Islamic welfare state.” ”

    —Imran Khan, 2011

Khan's proclaimed political platform and declarations include: Islamic values, to which he rededicated himself in the 1990s; liberal economics, with the promise of deregulating the economy and creating a welfare state; decreased bureaucracy and the implementation of anti-corruption laws, to create and ensure a clean government; the establishment of an independent judiciary; overhaul of the country's police system; and an anti-militant vision for a democratic Pakistan.[18][26][52]

Khan told Britain's Daily Telegraph, "I want Pakistan to be a welfare state and a genuine democracy with a rule of law and an independent judiciary."[18] Other ideas he has presented include a requirement of all students to spend a year after graduation teaching in the countryside and cutting down the over-staffed bureaucracy in order to send them to teach too.[53] "We need decentralisation, empowering people at the grass roots," he has said.[54] Recently, he was threatened of death by the Pakistani Taliban if he went ahead with his march to their tribal stronghold along the Afghan border because he calls himself a "liberal" – a term they associate with a lack of religious belief.[55]

    Criticism

During the 1970s and 1980s, Khan became known as a socialite due to his "non-stop partying" at London nightclubs such as Annabel's and Tramp, though he claims to have hated English pubs and to never drink alcohol.[4][8][26][42] He gained notoriety in London gossip columns for romancing young debutantes such as Susannah Constantine, Lady Liza Campbell and the artist Emma Sergeant.[8]

Khan was alleged to had a child out of wedlock with Ana-Luisa White (Sita White), daughter of Lord "Gordy" White, a few years before he married Jemima Goldsmith. In 1997, a US Judge ruled by default that Tyrian was Imran Khan's child after he failed to turn up for hearing. Following White's death in May 2004, Khan denied the reports that he and his wife are taking custody of 12-year old Tyrian, the late Sita White’s daughter.[56] Later in 2007, Election Commission of Pakistan ruled in favor of Khan and rejected the complaint filed against him regarding this case. Khan submitted a written statement in which he denied the acceptance of Tyrian Jade as his daughter and agreeing to become her guardian. The commission also dismissed the Ex parte judgment of US Court on the ground that it was neither admissible in evidence before any Court or Tribunal in Pakistan nor executable against him.[57]

Khan is often dismissed as a political lightweight[45] and a celebrity outsider in Pakistan,[19] where national newspapers also refer to him as a "spoiler politician".[58] The Muttahida Qaumi Movement, has asserted that Khan is "a sick person who has been a total failure in politics and is alive just because of the media coverage".[59] Political observers say the crowds he draws are attracted by his cricketing celebrity, and the public has been reported to view him as a figure of entertainment rather than a serious political authority.[53]

Declan Walsh in The Guardian newspaper in England in 2005 described Khan as a "miserable politician," observing that, "Khan's ideas and affiliations since entering politics in 1996 have swerved and skidded like a rickshaw in a rainshower… He preaches democracy one day but gives a vote to reactionary mullahs the next."[37] The charge constantly raised against Khan is that of hypocrisy and opportunism, including what has been called his life's "playboy to puritan U-turn."[19] Political commentator Najam Sethi, stated that, "A lot of the Imran Khan story is about backtracking on a lot of things he said earlier, which is why this doesn’t inspire people.".[19] He is also accused of having links with Pakistan's 'establishment'.[60] In 2008, as part of the Hall of Shame awards for 2007, Pakistan's Newsline magazine gave Khan the "Paris Hilton award for being the most undeserving media darling." The 'citation' for Khan read: "He is the leader of a party that is the proud holder of one National Assembly seat (and) gets media coverage inversely proportional to his political influence." The Guardian has described the coverage garnered by Khan's post-retirement activities in England, where he made his name as a cricket star and a night-club regular, as "terrible tosh, with danger attached. It turns a great (and greatly miserable) Third World nation into a gossip-column annexe. We may all choke on such frivolity."[61] After the 2008 general elections, political columnist Azam Khalil addressed Khan as one of the "utter failures in Pakistani politics".[62]

    Publications

Khan has published six works of non-fiction, including an autobiography co-written with Patrick Murphy. He periodically writes editorials on cricket and Pakistani politics in several leading Pakistani and British newspapers. It was revealed in 2008 that Khan's second book, Indus Journey: A Personal View of Pakistan, had required heavy editing from the publisher. The publisher Jeremy Lewis revealed in a memoir that when he asked Khan to show his writing for publication, "he handed me a leatherbound notebook or diary containing a few jottings and autobiographical snippets. It took me, at most, five minutes to read them; and that, it soon became apparent, was all we had to go on."[68]

I think media is not telling Pakistanis which they should know along with other facts while they talk about Balochistan & Bangladesh, many kids are born way after this incident of 1971 when Bangladesh was East Pakistan and present Pakistan was west Pakistan.

Lots of people don't know that father of the nation of Bangladesh was killed shortly after making of East Pakistan to Bangladesh, lets say in few months.

Now I will ask the question from Pakistani awam that

2.Who killed Shiekh Mujeeb ur Rehman (who made Bangladesh), who put the bullets in the body of alive father of the nation??

    A. Indian Army?? B. Pakistani Army or C. Bangladesh Riffles (Bangladeshi army)??

    Which answer is true??

    2. What was the reason Shiekh Mujeeb was killed??

    A. He was tring to give whole and sole Bangladesh jhute (primary export) rights (mean Bangladeshi wouldn't have any rights on their jhute product after signing a deal which was suppose to take place on that night, means buying selling and marketing, stamping and export would be in the hands of secondary country). Was he trying make that deal with Pakistani deligate??

    B. India deligate??

    or

    C. Chinese deligate??

    rest of the questions later.

How Chor POS Gardari Bimari, who used to black market movie’s tickets without any education, trade, skills, business, inheritance became billionaire?? Whose money he stolen???????

Sirf Sach, MirDa, Mr Lannat,my8-in-Nawaz, Lohori D, SitaWhite, and others ignorant perts are retard or they are close to be a retard, or just simply they are paid Chamchas of Noora groups.

But you know what they got no guts to do that, simply because they worship same gutless, POS leaders. If Chor POS Bakwas Shatan, Gardari Bimari cant come to answers 11 questions, and corruptions charges then how come these maggots would have courage to do that???.

Every department is failed or close to go busted, Pakistan is living POS, by grace of these parties, their supporters wont want any change from this filthy, smelly society. Simply because they are whip worms.

@@@@ my8-in-Nawaz you are so dumb Noora, I couldn’t figure out which corrupt party do you support, IF you support Chor Gardari Bimari gutless group read this millions times, you MIGHT understand how this country became POS, its literally POS to live in with grace of your in power Noora parties. PLEASE “READ” it Millions times all you Nooras baseless brainless supporters!!!

@@M..K and others baseless, brainless Chor corrupt Noora supporters let me ask you only one simple question.

How Chor Gardari Bimari, who used to black market movie’s tickets without any education, trade, skills, business, became billionaire??

He just simply abused the power of govt, its same with Chor Bakwas Shatan, and others thugs that’s the reason behind it they do too much flip flop AKA Noora kushti to be in the power, because that’s the only way they can suck more money from this poor Awam, and supporters like you still blindly supporting them. That’s called ignorance, AKA jahalaat

Just stop being a Noora for a minute and think about it!! whose money they stolen, that money belongs to people like you and me, this money suppose to accommodate our basic necessities needs, rather this blood sucked money hiding in fake banks accounts.

ZARDARI’S LOCAL ASSETS ARE: were estimated in 2008, he is a billionaire in pounds not in worthless RS.

Chor Bakwas Shatan came in power and in 25 years of leeching billions of dollars from Pakistani Awam, once you earned the money not according to Islamic way it’s called Haram, and that money isn’t good for anything.

All money he looted from Pakistan that money should have been spent to bring Pakistan to stable condition or at-least accommodates to provide the common necessitates for poor Pakistani Awam, but no way Chor Bakwas Shatan transferred not millions, billions of dollars in foreign countries, I don’t know why they don’t think that one day they have to die and all his wealth won’t do any good for him, he is and he would be remembered one of filthy feces of this Pakistani polities.

Nawaz Sharif’s Corruption highlighted in Raymond Baker’s book on Dirty Money Raymond Baker in his book Capitalism’s Achilles Heel: Dirty Money and How to Renew the Free-Market System tried to understand the dynamics of how dirty money works.

Corruption and criminality run from the top down, with the political class constantly looting the national treasury and distorting economic policy for personal gain. Bank loans are granted largely on the basis of status and connections. The rich stash much of their money abroad in those willing western coffers, while exhibiting little inclination to repay their rupee borrowings. Pakistan’s recent history has been dominated by two families—the Bhuttos and the Sharifs—both merely tolerated by the military, the real power in the country. When it comes to economic destruction, there’s not a lot of difference among the three.

While Benazir Bhutto hated the generals for executing her father, Nawaz Sharif early on figured out that they held the real power in Pakistan. His father had established a foundry in 1939 and, together with six brothers, had struggled for years only to see their business nationalized by Ali Bhutto’s regime in 1972. This sealed decades of enmity between the Bhuttos and the Sharifs. Following the military coup and General Zia’s assumption of power, the business—Ittefaq—was returned to family hands in 1980.Nawaz Sharif became a director and cultivated relations with senior military officers.

This led to his appointment as finance minister of Punjab and then election as chief minister of this most populous province in 1985. During the 1980s and early 1990s, given Sharif ’s political control of Punjab and eventual prime ministership of the country, Ittefaq Industries grew from its original single foundry into 30 businesses producing steel, sugar, paper, and textiles, with combined revenues of $400 million, making it one of the biggest private conglomerates in the nation. As in many other countries, when you control the political realm, you can get anything you want in the economic realm. With Lahore, the capital of Punjab, serving as the seat of the family’s power, one of the first things Sharif did upon becoming prime minister in 1990 was build his long-dreamed-of superhighway from there to the capital,Islamabad. Estimated to cost 8.5 billion rupees, the project went through two biddings. Daewoo of Korea, strengthening its proposals with midnight meetings, was the highest bidder both times, so obviously it won the contract and delivered the job at well over 20 billion rupees.

A new highway needs new cars. Sharif authorized importation of 50,000 vehicles duty free, reportedly costing the government $700 million in lost customs duties. Banks were forced to make loans for vehicle purchases to would-be taxi cab drivers upon receipt of a 10 percent deposit.Borrowers got their “Nawaz Sharif cabs,” and some 60 percent of them promptly defaulted. This left the banks with $500 million or so in unpaid loans. Vehicle dealers reportedly made a killing and expressed their appreciation in expected ways. Under Sharif, unpaid bank loans and massive tax evasion remained the favorite ways to get rich. Upon his loss of power the usurping government published a list of 322 of the largest loan defaulters, representing almost $3 billion out of $4 billion owed to banks. Sharif and his family were tagged for $60 million. The Ittefaq Group went bankrupt in 1993 when Sharif lost his premiership the first time. By then only three units in the group were operational, and loan defaults of the remaining companies totaled some 5.7 billion rupees, more than $100 million.

Like Bhutto, offshore companies have been linked to Sharif, three in the British Virgin Islands by the names of Nescoll, Nielson, and Shamrock and another in the Channel Islands known as Chandron Jersey Pvt. Ltd. Some of these entities allegedly were used to facilitate purchase of four rather grand flats on Park Lane in London, at various times occupied by Sharif family members. Reportedly, payment transfers were made to Banque Paribas en Suisse, which then instructed Sharif ’s offshore companies Nescoll and Nielson to purchase the four luxury suites. In her second term, Benazir Bhutto had Pakistan’s Federal Investigating Agency begin a probe into the financial affairs of Nawaz Sharif and his family. The probe was headed by Rehman Malik, deputy director general of the agency. Malik had fortified his reputation earlier by aiding in the arrest of Ramzi Yousef, mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. During Sharif ’s second term, the draft report of the investigation was suppressed, Malik was jailed for a year, and later reportedly survived an assassination attempt, after which he fled to London.

The Malik report, five years in the making, was released in 1998, with explosive revelations: The records, including government documents, signed affidavits from Pakistani officials, bank files and property records, detail deals that Mr. Malik says benefited Mr. Sharif, his family and his political associates:

    * At least $160 million pocketed from a contract to build a highway from Lahore, his home town, to Islamabad, the nation’s capital.

    * At least $140 million in unsecured loans from Pakistan’s state banks.

    * More than $60 million generated from government rebates on sugar exported by mills controlled by Mr. Sharif and his business associates.

    * At least $58 million skimmed from inflated prices paid for imported wheat from the United States and Canada. In the wheat deal, Mr. Sharif ’s government paid prices far above market value to a private company owned by a close associate of his in Washington, the records show. Falsely inflated invoices for the wheat generated tens of millions of dollars in cash.

The report went on to state that “The extent and magnitude of this corruption is so staggering that it has put the very integrity of the country at stake.” In an interview, Malik added: “No other leader of Pakistan has taken that much money from the banks. There is no rule of law in Pakistan. It doesn’t exist.” What brought Sharif down in his second term was his attempt to acquire virtually dictatorial powers. In 1997 he rammed a bill through his compliant parliament requiring legislators to vote as their party leaders directed. In 1998 he introduced a bill to impose Sharia law (Muslim religious law) across Pakistan, with himself empowered to issue unilateral directives in the name of Islam.

In 1999 he sought to sideline the army by replacing Chief of Staff Pervez Musharraf with a more pliable crony. He forgot the lessons he had learned in the 1980s: The army controls Pakistan and politicians are a nuisance. As Musharraf was returning from Sri Lanka, Sharif tried to sack him in midair and deny the Pakistan International Airways flight with 200 civilians on board landing rights in Karachi. Musharraf radioed from the aircraft through Dubai to his commander in Karachi, ordering him to seize the airport control tower, accomplished as the plane descended almost out of fuel. Musharraf turned the tables and completed his coup, and Sharif was jailed.

But Sharif had little to fear. This, after all, is Pakistan. Musharraf needed to consolidate his power with the generals, and Sharif knew details about the corruption of most of the brass. Obviously, it is better to tread lightly around the edges of your peer group’s own thievery. So Musharraf had Sharif probed, tried, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison, but then in 2000 exiled him to Saudi Arabia.Twenty-two containers of carpets and furniture followed, and, of course, his foreign accounts remained mostly intact. Ensconced in a glittering palace in Jeddah, he is described as looking “corpulent” amidst “opulent” surroundings. Reportedly, he and Benazir Bhutto even have an occasional telephone conversation, perhaps together lamenting how unfair life has become.

Differences aside but the lady from Noora League needs to learn some manners, I think she has been told to go out and do a shouting match, this is not what people want to see, She had nothing to offer but waste peoples time, but then again this is has been the policy of Noora League not to let others talk, because people will find out that in the last 35 years sonce Noora League has been in power in Punjab, they have not been able to delive, few essential things.

But then again UK has a very large population of Mirpuri paindoo fu*cks, I think they speak the same language as you. You and all the so-called jahil youth of this country deserve a munafiq leader like your IK, but just don't impose him on the rest of us. Up yours mate.

The language you are using reflecting your level very well.

If you think you are super genius then I dare you to go to Waziristan and help those families who've been hit by drone attacks and lost their love ones. And also protest against America who is killing innocent children and women and men in the name of collateral damage. And listen to those people who have been suffering from the trauma of those unmarked attacks.

I was watching this program on ARY today showing some of the people suffering the trauma of brutal drone attacks. Please see it yourself.

We will truly appreciate if you or your so called leader will do anything for them.

      I dare you…….

If you can't raise your voice against injustice and you can't take no action against the atrocity then please don't criticise those who are truly risking their lives to raise this issue in international media.

So you inbred mothafucka keep your pep talk about morality where the sun don't shine, for the paindos like Jineh it means your bund. Your leader has spent all his life in western countries, so much so that he married a western girl, and now he has the gall to say the west is bad. What a genuinely har*ami munafiq leader he is.

They are just jealous of Imran Khan. I haven't seen anyone so brave and committed who is not stopping at any cost for such noble cause.

    @@@ nonelitepakamerican

Majority of TV shows Imran Khan is doing are between 8pm to 11pm, as you see they are live shows, whats is your source of finding out what he does rest of the day? How come you can say he is sitting in house for whole day and then go out just for nightly interviews???

TV still is one of the major means to convey your message to people in Pakistan. TV still plays major part as a information source, I guaranty you, Imran Khan is more involve in local face to face meetings then any other leader out there, have you seen any other leader trying to get their message across as Imran Khan does? He was allover the Pakistan recently on different occasions.

If ZemTv is your only source to figure his daily activities then your miscalculating your opinion about him. I know its true if PTI wont win hearts and minds of locals then they wont come in power, but for you to say he isn’t going out in locals, isn’t true, he is more out there then anyone else, you should get in touch with PTI’s media cell to find out Imran Khan’s daily activities. One more thing, PTI isn’t just one person party anymore. PTI’s members out there working nonstop.

You said why Imran Khan is out there in LA, London, because he needs money to run his party, college, hospital, he has no another way to support them if people like us aren’t supporting his causes.

He never been in power, he never cheated single penny he got no blood sucked billions of pounds hiding in fake accounts in foreign banks ..

Let me ask you simple things:

Which party do you believe would make a change?

Which party do you believe will cut down emperor life style for these politician?

Which party do you believe would have more facility for locals problems?

Which party do you believe would be more anti corruption?

Which party do you believe would be more beneficiary for Pakistan and its people?

I also love to hear about your opinion for Zardri, Nawaz and others parties leaders, what you think about them? What others things are you disagree about Imran Khan or PTI?

PTI frustrated attack poodles are calling me a paid agent of Gunja, a stupid and shameless term about someone's God given appearance.

The reality is that in a nation of 200 million people the great majority is, has been and had been treated like personals slav, servants, subjects, sheep, inferior and undeserving religiously confused herds or commodity.

Since the ancient times us people have been ruled by kings,Sultans, maharajas or the British white masters.

Nwaz family mafia wants to rule the majority brown, weak, uneducated and poor people the indigenous punjabis, with the same swagger of the royalty.

This BA 2nd division pass, under educated simpleton has the Saudi Family run royal mafia as his role models, partners in crime and protectors.

He is more flexible in deal making for the best interest of his family and ethnic "Kashmiri" mafia than a overage working women in a Side walk.

His ability to accumulate wealth while in power is biblical levels, never in history a man can rule and plunder at the speed as him and his political crime family has proven.

He has his first initial as the party name and conducts political circus like a king who will invite his rival clans in London with the stolen wealth from one of the poorest people and will make deals and invite other political family and ethnic mafia dons and have them pardon each others crimes in his oxymoronic vision of reconciliation by the thieves, bandits, murderrs , corrupt to the core political misfit leaders for life by signing a document written by his minions as some sort of political Holly words, the Charter of Democracy, an NRO Nawaz style which had zero legal or moral value.

This man keeps calling BB his sister and all other political criminals his brothers and keeps his undereducated and incompetent family and friends, mostly Kashmiris as his party members and his advisors.

This man runs out of the country crying like a spoiled baby and suffers in royal style with the Saudi Royal Crime family, runs out to London when he passes excess gas to his British doctors and thinks of himself as the king in waiting.

He is the political cancer who has grown so big that it has eaten the body (Pakistan) to the point of starvation.

I cannot stand this deal making , political juggling, narcissistically confused and morally bankrupt stupid person.

All these people, the so called leaders are British compromised and Imran has his British roots, love of his life, the sort of ex wife, his sons, his American daughter, all white race and non Muslim, his playgrounds, his education, his livelihood and eventually his retirement home will be in London.

He is groomed and propped up as a crusader against the corruption, in realty he is the dry-cleaning machine to clean all the past dictators, the political for life and military dictators henchman, the prototype western dung beetles who have changed the party affiliations to fool the people and continue the same coalition of the family and ethnic mafias with Imran as the new figurehead.

Next elections will produce more chose and divid in already fractured and divided nation. Wake up and stop making this arrogant British stooge as some sort of prophet of hope.

Go back to your libraries, google, newspapers or talk to your parents and ask, and see what Musharraf the western toddy and puppet use to say about corruption, Imran is verbatim and is and has been collecting his old team.

He is the new blue eyed boy of the neo-cons and he is the closest the Jewish dream to rule Pakistan in a "colonizing style"with a delusional and lager than life tyrant style man who has blood relations to one of the most powerful Jewish dynasties in Europe and American daughter, all white.

He is not fit to rule an Islamic nation. Elections are a falls hope the West is forcing upon a society which is divided.

Wake up and stop making Imran Khan some sort of savior, the man practically lives a fairytale life, children white and filthy rich(boys)and daughter with no responsibility, safe in the US,lives like a king in Pakistan and has A level O level minions praising him day and night.

With a simple accountability and with true screening process with no room for people who’s financial, family and real estate attachments are overseas.

Now who is terrorizing who? it is not a war on the first place, it is an organized acts of murders, occupation, colonization, revenge, crimes against humanity from both mercenaries for hire, turf war for the resources and “western” geopolitical gamble to put the “white men” interest in the middle of the central Asia.

The same Taliban are the creation of Pentgoons, state department and CIA, with the financial backing of the Saudi and UAE royal crime families and ISI and the religious parties of Pakistan and even the liberal Baynazir Bhutto, she was called the mother of Taliban. I really don’t know which party you represent or what group, I bet they supported these Taliban’s as freedom fighters at one time.

I have been writing about my displeasure of Imran’s decision to deal with the current establishment and open his door for their agents. I will criticize him for that, until or unless he comes out and give us critics a true answer, like I had to do it for the best interest of the country. By all means it was or is not for the best interest of the PTI’s ideology, that’s why some good people are leaving him and some have gone in the background.

Imran is as liberal as they come and negotiations with Taliban’s is his strategy to win the hearts and minds of the KPK and some other people who see them the only men who standup to the Western warmongers.

I reject their (Taliban’s) backward ideology but still can not forget that I can not or should not play God and make people to believe in my believes or be eliminated. One has to work with the differences of opinion and use the negotiation and force hand in hand, that’s what I was taught as a young child, how our holly prophet did, he fought when absolutely needed, made negotiated peace pacts and even forgave the enemies of Islam and himself , once they surrendered.

Now lets be fair, we don’t need the outsiders to tell us about our internal issues, one has to be able to be critical of themselves. We must reevaluate our dealing with the tribal areas and don’t portray them as some innocent angels. The are harboring militants and foreign agents, especially Saudi and UAE funded militants. Who is funding them? The Indians, The Arabs, the CIA, the Russians and verity of European and central Asian republics with the caviar of Israelis agents.

There is no industry in tribal area and a great majority works in the Middle East and influenced by their local issues and been used as proxy fighters for the Arab causes. Imran needs to talk about that, just hoping that US goes away with Nato forces, everything will change, is a wishful thinking and a sign of lack of vision. Nato and US will never fully leave as long as they can get the supply line from Pakistan, and even if they leave to some extent, the vacuum will be filled by the Indains and other agents.

Tribal people are not angels, historically they gave refuge to murderers, robbers and criminals, they deal in drugs and they are involve in sum gulling and they have their own code of ethics which at times clashes with international laws and the Pakistani laws.

Our finding father made the best deal possible, since he did not have the money and strong army to control these nomads armed to teeth and our corrupt, incompetent and mentally immature successive governments kept the British system and dealt with them via agents. Now due to this war for the energy resources, commodities and the control of the goods and services from the Central Asia to the rest of the world, mainly China, India, Iran and Pakistan, the stakes are in trillions of dollars and the White colonizers, whose economies have always been flourished by looting, plundering the poor so called third world countries are fully involve in this area.

There are billions of dollars at stack. I can write a paper on it but to give the youth some idea, we can not let the old failed system intact, must establish the rit of the government and flush out the outsiders, but for that you need a better government in Pakistan and leaders with vision.

Yes, we need to draw a line with Taliban and stop scaring a nation of 200 million nuclear power from the armed bandits of these areas, 800,000 armed men.

That is the problem, we need to establish law and order and hire the local people to police themselves and start rehabilitating and unarming them with rewards and creating jobs.

I wish Imran well to save even one innocent life with his effort, even if it is a propaganda tool his handlers are using, but my ten years support of the peace movement has been a total fail our and waste of my money and time.

They have never stopped any war, but more like an agitation club of like minded people with agendas as diverse as Palestinian issue and “happy people” rights, legality of weed and so on.

In my opinion Imran has been doing infomercials and media stunts to get popularity and he never does anything, which he promises, like revolution, stopping the Nato Supplies, bring educated middleclass people in politics, accountability of the MQM human drone attacks controlled from the command center in London by the serial killer, Altaf Bond, .00007, with license to kill from the Queen mother of occupations and war crimes, his march during the lawyers movement, not accepting the elections under the biggest ethnic and political Mafia don, Asif Ali Madari(clown),he hid and never showed up and I can go on and on with Imrans different stunts with no substance.

I still support any efforts to highlight this war crime, even though, in my opinion, Imran is barking the wrong tree, he needs to go to GHQ and Islamabad, where the real criminals are hiding in full protection of the so called Pakistani constitution and the judicial system, the crime boss, the current president of Pakistan is conducting meetings to strategies how to keep fooling the goofballs, the justice system with delay tactics and the dark eyed and dark hearted army chief, the protector and granter of the current crime syndicate bringing Pakistan to the depths of doom and despair is in Russia playing some stupid geo political blackmail game to be able to play on the both sides of the fence, the same Amy chief, who was go-between the American war criminals, war mongers and mass murderers to give us the gift of NRO and this judicial and parliament game of legal drama of extensions and media circus.

    Don’t get your hopes high.

Code pink did a number of things for Iraq war, but you know the rest of the story.

Pink was founded on November 17, 2002 by Jodie Evans, Medea Benjamin and other activists.[2] The group’s name is a play on the United States Department of Homeland Security’s color-coded alert system in which, for example, Code Orange and Code Red signify the highest levels of danger.[5]

In February 2003, just weeks before the invasion of Iraq, Code Pink organized its first trip to that nation, and subsequently led five delegations there. These delegations included parents who had lost their children in Iraq, and parents of active soldiers. Additionally, they brought six Iraqi women on a tour of the United States, and published a report about how the US occupation affected the status of Iraqi women.[6]

    My advise to Imran Khan,

Imran you are playing a high stake publicity poker game with people's emotions.

This act possibly, may, give him recognition internationally especially impotent and failed peace movement groupies, local desperately looking for manly hood of the Pakistani morally eunuch government and coward sold out, compromised establishment and impotent and compromised so called opposition.

None of the current Pakistani political elites have the roots and background

as Imran does in these areas and he is trying to cash it in, even though he has no legacy in those areas or even in Pakistan, his family, children are white European and American.

He gets paid from the British and American neo-con thin tanks, goes their several time a year, this month, USA, LA and ?for charity, handouts and his monetary and other needs and can not live without them, but acting like he is challenging them by a peace march? An extremely oxymoronic staged show of confusion and political trickery.

Stop these propaganda stunts, each time you do one there is nothing to show for latter.

Go out of your Ranch house and out of these daily studio one on one staged interviews ,staged marches, the more you open your mouth, the more you keep repeating you lines, like Albert Ernestine example and your Wall Street examples which more than 90% of the Pakistanis don't know who and what they are and give a rats backside about them.

You do all this for your overseas Pakistani handlers, supporters, donators, life style role models, weakness, your charitable contributors. But to brake the bad news to you old man, they are not your voting audience, the majority poor and destitute Pakistanis are you audience, get out of your self delusion of 10 million Internet follower, your media and minions, your praise The Lord Imran Khan, we love you, you are the best, you are the lost hope, only hope chanting fan club.

Are you telling me that they will be able to elect you, no, the 90% poor, uneducated, undereducated, wrongly educated people in the rural areas should be your audience. Either you are a coward or you have no respect of the poor, or you are a self-centered elitist who only likes the posh surroundings with your throne to sit on, hang around rich and powerful people and discuss poverty issues like a royal family member in royal style.

I am shocked that you who talked about west minister style democracy haven't Lear a lesson from them, how they go day in day out to the people, have meetings in local surrounding, interact with the masses, Liston to their issues, eat with the poor and evergreen people, ride trains and busses with them, unlike you flying all over the world, in private jets in Pakistan making a mockery of a political leader.

In this crucial time in Pakistan, you again coming to USA, why, for money? For charity? for instructions from your think tank paymasters? For your never ending excuse and emotional blackmail of the cancer victims? Why you don't go out in every district of Pakistan , every city in Pakistan, every Provence in Pakistan, why not, why, London, Why LA why, why, why?

You have not one one seat and acting like some international politician?

Imran you make me think that you feel that Internet, establishment and your overseas buddies will give you the crown to rule us peasants. You may get the shook of your life, if you don't change your ways. This fan club is not the only voters, the real voters are the one who you are avoiding, those are the people so low level to you that you did not even found them worthy of your marriage let alone having even a child out of wedlock. You are an elite who is using all emotional speeches and emotional blackmail with hardly any interaction with the people and you feel you deserve to rule, like it is an entitlement for you.

If you read this message, go out and stop this daily talk show crap, it makes you look cheep and a coward, who wants to win an election sitting on throne like seats and traveling like a clown convincing overseas Pakistanis your worth.

    I hope this helps.

Initially our Khan was suppose to go to North Waziristan but cowards like Shah Mehmood, feudal Tareen and others threatened to ditch him because of the danger, so poor brave Khan had no choice but to change the itinerary. This will force Amrika to not only stop the drones, which are actually carried out by explicit approval of our establishment, but also tender an apology with compensation payment, plus Amrika will also write 1000 times on a piece of paper" We are sorry for the drones and we will never do this again". After this our Imran will be proclaimed the King of Pakistan with Jamaatis as his idealogues. The Sharif family will be thrown out of the country alongwith the Zardari family Ameen.

Canals of milk and honey will flow freely in Pakistan and every Pakistani will become a millionaire, we will establish a moon base and give aid to other third world countries, Harvard and Cambridge universities will move their campuses to Lahore, millions of Amrikis and Farangis will apply for work visas to Pakistan, the Arab sheikhs will come here to do menial labor work.
