Muhammad Iqbal sahib I completely agree with you. These TV Channels are spreading schism in our society. I believe the biggest mistake of Musharraf was to allow so many channels in one go. Sheikh Rashid admits that he was instrumental in granting broadcasting rights to about 80 television channels in 2002.
Media in Pakistan is not mature enough and is susceptible to owners whims as well as outside influences like Riaz Thaykaydar or bribe paid through commercials as well as discretionary funds of President, Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Information Ministers.
Even in the United States, where I am based, there aren't so many news Channels. I am only familiar with MSNBC, CNN, FOX and local news channels. In Pakistan we have about 20-30 talk shows every night with same anchors as well as tried and tested guests.
There should be strict scrutiny of media houses financial affairs so that it can be determined which TV channel is on the payroll of politicians, corrupt thaykaydars and foreign governments.
Even though media has created awareness in the society but it also is responsible for creating deep schisms in the society. Pakistani soceity is more polarized and intolerant than it was when there were only two or three tv channels.
There should only be 10 tv channels while licenses of rest of them should be revoked, Or futher licences should only be granted for entertainment television (not fahashi entertainment). Hats off to Ansar Abbassi for spreadheading the campaign against immodest tv programs/shows.

There should be some checks and balance on these media houses, tv channels, anchors and even journalists who claim themselves to be torch bearers of civil society. Majority of them are b.s.
I had posted my comments yesterday on a recent talk show conducted by Shazeb where he had Javed Hashmi and Ahsan Iqbal. The way he was conducting the show, it was shameful and disgusting. The way he was questioning Javed Hashmi, it was insulting. Yeh kal kay londay think they are too smart. I have been closely following Javed Hashmi and Sh. Rasheed from the time they were student leaders. These anchors will go to any extend to raise their ratings. I did mention in my comment that anchors like Shazem and Waseem Badami (another idiot) should watch how Brian Williams, Wolf Blitzer conduct their programs. At least they will learn something in their life.
