There are two types of Sins:
1/ Sins related to Allah,
2/ Sins related to people,
Please beware that Allah has clearly told us that Allah may only forgive sins related to Allah upon truthful toba from the heart, e.g. Namaz, Roza, Hajj etc.
But
If somebody has killed someone, deceived someone, hurt someone, destroyed someone's life, theft someones goods or money, encroached someones land, raped someone etc. etc then Allah will not forgive but sinner will have to compensate the loss of the victim and ask the victim for forgiveness and only after compensation and acceptance from the victim the sinner will be forgiven.
Dear fellows please note that Islam is not a religion of "stories" but Islam is the only practical Deen (way of life in this world).
Please beware of that when you need a truthful toba of the sins and if the sins are related to someone then you need to first compensate the loss of the person then ask for toba from Allah, if sins are only related to Allah and no one else was affected then its ok to ask for toba directly.
You all are requested not to follow "such out of context stories" this is not Islam at all.
Islam is a logical deen, and Allah requires us not to damage others life, money, goods, property, business, jobs, relations etc.
