An Endowment fund has nothing to do with charity, zakaat or khairat .. it is a fund set up with some money and invested to gain profits which are being used to provide services to the hospital. If it was not for this venture then the hospital would not be able to run.
It is the same example as Edhi ambulances charge money for transferring patients and dead bodies – so that that money can be used to provide free ambulance service to the needy and in case of emergency .. is it not the same as earning money from zakaat sadqaat and then utilising it for the good service provided?
And the decisions of the board is final as to where and how the fund invests. If it is international money then it is a very good idea to invest internationally cos you need some foreign exchange if you are dealing on an international level. Most of the equipment and consumables are purchased by the hospital on the international market paid by dollars. if the money donated internationally is converted to Pakistan rupees and then when needed is converted back to dollars then it would be a huge loss in the process.

the problem with absar alam type of anchors is that they lack the good education background, to run hospital like shuakat u khanam you need solid funding baseline, you just cant depend on zakat, how come anyone know what they going to get next year. absar alam just talking about emotional stuff.

o Goofy .. I am surprised at lack of understanding of simple economic and commercial issues here .. I can understand that Khwaja Asif would not agree to the interpretations because of his vested interests and he will keep on lying and manipulating the words. The surprise is on this idiot Absar Alam who is the anchor of this program .. he has not done his homework at all .. he keeps insisting that "donations" are equal to "sadqaat" .. such an idiot .. he should first go and try to understand the topic he is trying to present.
An Endowment fund has nothing to do with charity, zakaat or khairat .. it is a fund set up with some money and invested to gain profits which are being used to provide services to the hospital. If it was not for this venture then the hospital would not be able to run.
It is the same example as Edhi ambulances charge money for transferring patients and dead bodies – so that that money can be used to provide free ambulance service to the needy and in case of emergency .. is it not the same as earning money from zakaat sadqaat and then utilising it for the good service provided?
And the decisions of the board is final as to where and how the fund invests. If it is international money then it is a very good idea to invest internationally cos you need some foreign exchange if you are dealing on an international level. Most of the equipment and consumables are purchased by the hospital on the international market paid by dollars. if the money donated internationally is converted to Pakistan rupees and then when needed is converted back to dollars then it would be a huge loss in the process.
