Its very disappointing to see how PML N a very long political party which ruled Pakistan two times is now blaming Shokat Khanam (which treats free Cancer patients and it is now World biggest hospital treating Cancer patients free of cost) only to demage PTI.

By watching all the programs on this matter, I can confidently say that media is deliberately playing a negative role against Imran Khan. It also clearly shows that PML-N can see its defeat in the coming elections and has started such shameful tactics as usual. Imran Khan has nothing to do in this matter as he is not a party to this matter. Infact SK shall file a suit for damages against Kh. Asif for the potential financial loss and shall claim a significant amount to ensure teaching a good lesson to such foul players like Kh. Asif.

1. SKMT is not a public property .. it does not belong to the people .. it is a TRUST which means it is a private entity .. if it is run by donations of people then the people do not have any rights on the management of the trust. They donate money for a charity and if the charity is not performing then they will not donate to it. There are thousands of charities all over the world which are run by its own rules without public scrutiny.
2. Trust has all the authority to manage its own financial affairs as far as it is not breaking any laws. The decision to invest and where to invest and how much to invest is solely the prerogative of the board of trustees and this money was invested on directions of the board, not one person.
3. All endowment funds are invested in a broad portfolio of high risk and low risk investments. Property is always a low risk – high return investment. Sethi is himself contradicting his point when he gives the example of the property bubble in USA but does not know that it was an entirely different scenario. It was bad mortgages which bankrupted the banks. The reason for the property crash was not that the value of properties went down, but people could not pay back the mortgages and the banks had to take over the properties to recover the investment, creating a social problem.
3. All investments are speculative in nature. The high return – high risk investments are more speculative than the low risk – low return ones. SKMT invested in a portfolio of investments – they would have bought shares, treasury bonds, property, insurances, hedge funds etc. Some of them did well while the others did poorly. PML took out selectively one investment out of the whole portfolio and used it to their political advantage.
4. There is absolutely no conflict of interest if it is declared. There are many people who serve in different capacities. It is not against the law to be on a board and be a CEO of a company dealing with that board. Examples are Haleburton and Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld etc .. I myself am a director of a company and CEO of a medical practice that deal with my own company. But as long as I declare that I have financial interests there is no conflict of interests. There are many doctors who give lectures all over the world and do research which is funded by pharmaceutical industry .. they are required to explicitly state their conflict of interest so that others can look at the bias if any.
In the end I would only want to say that PML has poked the hornets nest and are going to be bitten very badly .. but then it is Pakistan .. where the more corrupt, immoral and unethical you are the more votes you get. Pakistan deserves rulers like Khwaja Asif (on behest of Nawaz Sharif) .. long live Pakistan.
