Pakistan my beloved, there is a better way to deal with this demographic boom for you than to start handing out condemns and to artificially restrict your population growth rate. First we need to point out the shortcomings of such a strategy, and indeed there are many. Pakistan is already witnessing one of the greatest demographic cohorts in the history of the world come of age. Dramatically curbing our population growth rate today would pose severe problems for us in the not so distant future, perhaps 30-40 years (which is not a long time at all), such as the “graying” of the population. This is a dire problem which the European and East Asian nations are currently grappling with unsuccessfully. As the current cohort- your children- comes of retirement age, we will lack replacements for them. This will put a crippling burden on our economy, and indeed our future progeny. The healthcare system won’t be able to cope with it. Taxes will have to be raised, and working hours lowered given the need of most senior citizens to remain in the workforce to sustain themselves.
As a result of such a crippling shortage of working age labor, we will have to “import” laborers from abroad through a lax immigration policy. In a capitalist economy, with a shortage of workers, average wages will rise and make your corporations uncompetitive in the “free market”. This in itself will pose multifarious problems with no good solutions. You will have to find a country or continent with excess labor, most likely India or Afghanistan if not some country in Africa, and then “import” them to plug the shortage. These laborers will come from vastly diverging cultures, ethnicities, nationalities and maybe even religions, and create major problems of assimilation for you. Pakistan will be turned into a veritable tower of Babel. You think building a consensus is difficult today? You have lived amongst each other for hundreds of years even prior to the creation of Pakistan and still find it difficult to get along or agree over the minutest of issues. What will happen when your children have aged and lost the zest of youth, facing off against an army of foreign laborers with diverging interests? There will be greater ethnic and religious conflict as a result- look no further than Malaysia- and a flight of capital as well as the workers will send home much of what they make.
Furthermore, drastically lowering the population growth rate through condemn utilization or otherwise will require and indeed entail a sexual revolution. This as you know poses a grave social challenge. Unwanted teenage pregnancies will rise as they have in westernized Muslim households. Instances of divorce will skyrocket. An astute study of world history and anthropology alike, point towards a solution for Pakistan’s current dilemma.
As any reasonable minded person should be able to recognize by now, a “truncated and moth eaten” Pakistan by itself is not a viable state. Though abundant and full of human resources, our greatest strength, we lack the key NATURAL RESOURCES that modern societies need to build an industrial society and prosper. Even today with such a low base of consumption, our natural gas and oil needs can barely fulfill half of our current needs. Iron for steel is nonexistent. Proven reserves of coal in Thar is less than 2% of the world. And the coal is second rate at that, requiring additional funding and resources for extraction, transportation, and refinement. Solar power is not yet affordable and won’t be for quite some time, and even when it is, we will continue to rely upon natural gas and oil for a better part of the century. As will the rest of the world. Water is already SEVERELY SCARCE, making dams for electricity not much of an option. Too much waste and environmental pollution. The only option Pakistan has at its disposal, is the “Look North” policy I’ve been advocating. We must by logical necessity expand to a geographical terrain that has four components: low population density, plenty of space, socio-religious similarity, and abundant natural resources.
Now our immediate neighbor Afghanistan on the other hand, a state which predates our own, rich in scarce mineral resources, with geographical access to Central Asia abundant in natural gas and oil- scarce resources which Pakistan’s industries desperately need- low population density, space and socio-religious similarity, is also an unviable state overall. A landlocked country with a Pashtun majority- our fellow Muslim brethren- half of whom also reside in Pakistan from centuries past. They comprise a majority of two of our four provinces, and are a martial people as are most of our valiant ethnicities. Karachi, our largest and only real port, has become the capital of Pashtuns. Figures are murky, but I’ve heard numbers ranging anywhere from 4-7 million. They come like all migrants to seek work and a livelihood and to escape from the clutches of poverty and war. This is an irreversible trend which can never be overlooked or overturned by Pakistan’s infamous ethnic politicians cum policymakers. A unification of the two countries based on mutual interest is a NECESSITY. Not an option, not a utopia, but a NECESSITY! Any fool contemplating mining the border, might as well mine two of our four provinces and the port city of Karachi as well! What a petty fool to make such a suggestion to please his paymasters abroad, and pander to the lowest common denominator at home.
Pakistan’s demographic dilemma necessitates a strong, centralized polity which can scientifically allocate and distribute resources according to need, not greed. As a matter of National survival, Pakistan CANNOT tolerate a free-market economy. This is a lesson Pakistan must learn from its six decades of history, ruled mostly by ignoramus Generals like Ayub Khan/ Zia-ul-Haq/ Pervez Musharraf and their criminal regimes of miseducated technocrats, fully aided and abetted by our oppressor in chief Uncle Sam! It is they who are primarily responsible for our unnecessary suffering and misery.
Far from being a “golden era” as described by certain absconding miscreants on the run from the law, Ayub Khan’s dictatorial regime was a complete disaster! Not only did he miss a golden opportunity to wrest Indian occupied Kashmir for good during the 1962 Sino-Indian war, but the short lived, debt driven construction boom of his era forever rendered Pakistan a slave to the dictates of the IMF and its sugar daddy Uncle Sam! His “free-market” policies led to the monopolization of our National resources by 22 families, ballooned income inequality, enfeebled our institutions, created ethnic strife which eventually led to a civil war and the ignominious loss of half of our country! The “free-market” and criminal social policies of our military dictators, forced upon us and sustained by America, is capable of putting the likes of the criminal Augusto Pinochet to shame! No Pakistan, no. You don’t need a regime of unaccountable technocrats in cahoots with the most corrupt institution of the land- the Military- that doesn’t pay a penny of tax on its tens of billions of dollars of illicit activities, lording over the country again. What Pakistan needs is a Socialist system. We need central planning to address the utter chaos in our cities and streets. It must become the priority of this Socialist polity, which could be Islamic in character, to crush the corrupt land mafia’s occupying the countries properties. Squash the random and illegal construction of buildings and houses by slick real estate developers wherever and whenever the hell they feel like, with utter impunity. End at once the bondage of our laborers, both young and old, toiling away in horrendous conditions in privately owned factories and farms, for slave wages. All so that a few fat cats can make billions in profits and buy out the local politicians and officials to legitimate their individualist desires over the social needs of the many.
This Socialist-Islamic polity needs to clamp down hard on irrational internal migrations which create unbearable burdens for provinces, cities and local areas alike. The open door immigration policy as pertaining to our educated people also needs to be closed at once. Instead, the Socialist-Islamic polity must choose territorial unification and expansion in the northern direction, followed by guided migration, as a way to cope with excess laborers. This polity needs to begin Nationalizing cement factories, textile industries, feudal owned farms, and other “means of production”. This will allow us to allocate and distribute our National resources to our impoverished people, and rid the country of exploitation and greed based policies. We need to begin rationing our resources and output so no-one gets more than they absolutely need, nor less. So we consume what we produce and not an iota more! The State needs to set the prices of all commodities and goods, so no-one makes a despicable profit at the existential expense of another. We need to put strict restrictions on the flow of cash, which has led to tens of billions of dollars being laundered abroad with complete impunity. The Socialist-Islamic polity needs to shutter the gambling houses of stock exchanges as well, since they are prone to irrational speculation and crashes as a rule, leading to the unnecessary loss of people’s hard earned money.
If the “Defense-of-Pakistan Council” agrees to these conditions, to this Social Contract, which is a complete make-over of this iniquitous society, then the valiant people of Pakistan will embrace them at once and hail them as the emancipators of our people and not its enslavers!

Pakistan my beloved, there is a better way to deal with this demographic boom for you than to start handing out condemns and to artificially restrict your population growth rate. First we need to point out the shortcomings of such a strategy, and indeed there are many. Pakistan is already witnessing one of the greatest demographic cohorts in the history of the world come of age. Dramatically curbing our population growth rate today would pose severe problems for us in the not so distant future, perhaps 30-40 years (which is not a long time at all), such as the “graying” of the population. This is a dire problem which the European and East Asian nations are currently grappling with unsuccessfully. As the current cohort- your children- comes of retirement age, we will lack replacements for them. This will put a crippling burden on our economy, and indeed our future progeny. The healthcare system won’t be able to cope with it. Taxes will have to be raised, and working hours lowered given the need of most senior citizens to remain in the workforce to sustain themselves.
As a result of such a crippling shortage of working age labor, we will have to “import” laborers from abroad through a lax immigration policy. In a capitalist economy, with a shortage of workers, average wages will rise and make your corporations uncompetitive in the “free market”. This in itself will pose multifarious problems with no good solutions. You will have to find a country or continent with excess labor, most likely India or Afghanistan if not some country in Africa, and then “import” them to plug the shortage. These laborers will come from vastly diverging cultures, ethnicities, nationalities and maybe even religions, and create major problems of assimilation for you. Pakistan will be turned into a veritable tower of Babel. You think building a consensus is difficult today? You have lived amongst each other for hundreds of years even prior to the creation of Pakistan and still find it difficult to get along or agree over the minutest of issues. What will happen when your children have aged and lost the zest of youth, facing off against an army of foreign laborers with diverging interests? There will be greater ethnic and religious conflict as a result- look no further than Malaysia- and a flight of capital as well as the workers will send home much of what they make.
Furthermore, drastically lowering the population growth rate through condemn utilization or otherwise will require and indeed entail a sexual revolution. This as you know poses a grave social challenge. Unwanted teenage pregnancies will rise as they have in westernized Muslim households. Instances of divorce will skyrocket. The institution of marriage and family will weaken. This will give rise to a culture of juvenile delinquents amongst our youth. The sense of duty and responsibility and mutual sacrifice inherent in societies with strong families will decline. If you insist upon choosing this path to our current problem, thus will be the story of your demise before the close of the century.

The U.S stated off as 13 small colonies consisting of migrants from a plethora of European nations. Through migration of excess labor they built a continental empire. Russia started off as a principality around Muscovy. Through centuries of constant expansion and war, they built the largest political entity known to man. How did the Arabs become masters of 22 countries? Similar story of expansion and migration will be found in early China. An astute study of world history and anthropology alike, point towards a solution for Pakistan’s current dilemma.
As any reasonable minded person should be able to recognize by now, a “truncated and moth eaten” Pakistan by itself is not a viable state. Though abundant and full of human resources, our greatest strength, we lack the key NATURAL RESOURCES that modern societies need to build an industrial society and prosper. Even today with such a low base of consumption, our natural gas and oil needs can barely fulfill half of our current needs. Iron for steel is nonexistent. Proven reserves of coal in Thar is less than 2% of the world. And the coal is second rate at that, requiring additional funding and resources for extraction, transportation, and refinement. Solar power is not yet affordable and won’t be for quite some time, and even when it is, we will continue to rely upon natural gas and oil for a better part of the century. As will the rest of the world. Water is already SEVERELY SCARCE, making dams for electricity not much of an option. Too much waste and environmental pollution. The only option Pakistan has at its disposal, is the “Look North” policy I’ve been advocating. We must by logical necessity expand to a geographical terrain that has four components: low population density, plenty of space, socio-religious similarity, and abundant natural resources.
Now our immediate neighbor Afghanistan on the other hand, a state which predates our own, rich in scarce mineral resources, with geographical access to Central Asia abundant in natural gas and oil- scarce resources which Pakistan’s industries desperately need- low population density, space and socio-religious similarity, is also an unviable state overall. A landlocked country with a Pashtun majority- our fellow Muslim brethren- half of whom also reside in Pakistan from centuries past. They comprise a majority of two of our four provinces, and are a martial people as are most of our valiant ethnicities. Karachi, our largest and only real port, has become the capital of Pashtuns. Figures are murky, but I’ve heard numbers ranging anywhere from 4-7 million. They come like all migrants to seek work and a livelihood and to escape from the clutches of poverty and war. This is an irreversible trend which can never be overlooked or overturned by Pakistan’s infamous ethnic politicians cum policymakers. A unification of the two countries based on mutual interest is a NECESSITY. Not an option, not a utopia, but a NECESSITY! Any fool contemplating mining the border, might as well mine two of our four provinces and the port city of Karachi as well! What a petty fool to make such a suggestion to please his paymasters abroad, and pander to the lowest common denominator at home.
Pakistan’s demographic dilemma necessitates a strong, centralized polity which can scientifically allocate and distribute resources according to need, not greed. As a matter of National survival, Pakistan CANNOT tolerate a free-market economy. This is a lesson Pakistan must learn from its six decades of history, ruled mostly by ignoramus Generals like Ayub Khan/ Zia-ul-Haq/ Pervez Musharraf and their criminal regimes of miseducated technocrats, fully aided and abetted by our oppressor in chief Uncle Sam! It is they who are primarily responsible for our unnecessary suffering and misery.
Far from being a “golden era” as described by certain absconding miscreants on the run from the law, Ayub Khan’s dictatorial regime was a complete disaster! Not only did he miss a golden opportunity to wrest Indian occupied Kashmir for good during the 1962 Sino-Indian war, but the short lived, debt driven construction boom of his era forever rendered Pakistan a slave to the dictates of the IMF and its sugar daddy Uncle Sam! His “free-market” policies led to the monopolization of our National resources by 22 families, ballooned income inequality, enfeebled our institutions, created ethnic strife which eventually led to a civil war and the ignominious loss of half of our country! The “free-market” and criminal social policies of our military dictators, forced upon us and sustained by America, is capable of putting the likes of the criminal Augusto Pinochet to shame! No Pakistan, no. You don’t need a regime of unaccountable technocrats in cahoots with the most corrupt institution of the land- the Military- that doesn’t pay a penny of tax on its tens of billions of dollars of illicit activities, lording over the country again. Allah in jhuttay, makaar “patriots” say maaf karey!
What Pakistan needs is a Socialist system. We need central planning to address the utter chaos in our cities and streets. It must become the priority of this Socialist polity, which could be Islamic in character, to crush the corrupt land mafia’s occupying the countries properties. Squash the random and illegal construction of buildings and houses by slick real estate developers wherever and whenever the hell they feel like, with utter impunity. End at once the bondage of our laborers, both young and old, toiling away in horrendous conditions in privately owned factories and farms, for slave wages. All so that a few fat cats can make billions in profits and buy out the local politicians and officials to legitimate their individualist desires over the social needs of the many.
This Socialist-Islamic polity needs to clamp down hard on irrational internal migrations which create unbearable burdens for provinces, cities and local areas alike. The open door immigration policy as pertaining to our educated people also needs to be closed at once. Instead, the Socialist-Islamic polity must choose territorial unification and expansion in the northern direction, followed by guided migration, as a way to cope with excess laborers. This polity needs to begin Nationalizing cement factories, textile industries, feudal owned farms, and other “means of production”. This will allow us to allocate and distribute our National resources to our impoverished people, and rid the country of exploitation and greed based policies. We need to begin rationing our resources and output so no-one gets more than they absolutely need, nor less. So we consume what we produce and not an iota more! The State needs to set the prices of all commodities and goods, so no-one makes a despicable profit at the existential expense of another. We need to put strict restrictions on the flow of cash, which has led to tens of billions of dollars being laundered abroad with complete impunity. The Socialist-Islamic polity needs to shutter the gambling houses of stock exchanges as well, since they are prone to irrational speculation and crashes as a rule, leading to the unnecessary loss of people’s hard earned money.
If the “Defense-of-Pakistan Council” agrees to these conditions, to this Social Contract, which is a complete make-over of this iniquitous society, then the valiant people of Pakistan will embrace them at once and hail them as the emancipators of our people and not its enslavers!
