Your subject of talk show of today, I think for the dual nationality holders becoming the members of parliament, I think there are strong arguments can be given from either side, and ANP stand on the subject is not based on any principal but it is based against MQM, I think that is very short sightedness on their part, I think we need to find a neutral grounds on the subject, I think it should also be applied to all sensitive public office holders, various countries have different laws, and we can see how China has gained from there dual nationality holders, I think that we should fix let’s say 10% seats can be out of 320 can be given to dual nationality holders, because they bring not only money but expertise from the country they have spent time, one good example is Dr Ata who have done so much good in the education in this country and he came from USA on the call by President Mushruff, but they should not be given portfolios like Interior Ministry, Defense Ministry, Finance Ministry, Foreign Ministry anything which can compromise national security should not be on the offer, like Prime Minister, Governors, President, Chief Minister, but they can do a lot of good in education, health, water & power, tourism, etc we should utilize their services, and this question that they had taken an oath that they will raise arms against any country, like in USA oath, please by the time you become a parliamentarian most people have passed the age to raise arms against anyone. This law should also apply to bureaucrats especially on sensitive posts.
Regarding Army Journals I think they have a law that anyone holding dual nationality cannot join the army to begin with then why are we discussing them to begin with that just is not allowed, and I think this should stay intact.
Regarding Judges of Supreme Court & High Courts again I think we can allow a cretin percentage to be allowed to hold dual nationality but cannot become Chief Justices of either Court.
I think the idea is that we don’t want a PM who does not have stakes in Pakistan and have the power to effectively make laws etc, but I think it should not be limited to only duel nationals, but also to those who have their investments outside in their own name or sons and daughters name family names, or have a trust which controls the assets and investment, and for them dual nationality is not the problem, they can go out anytime and file political asylum, so we should not allow those people also to have sensitive official posts. They are our real problem not those who have dual nationality.
Now your other subject of the day regarding amendment in article 204 regarding protecting PM, Governors, CM, etc to be above the contempt of court law this is just to protect PM and as well as Malik Raiz, this should not be allowed, the Government is heading for a direct confrontation with the Supreme Court, and that is all there is to it, while each branch of the Government should only exercise only powers given to them by the constitution, but the problem has been that with no accountability mechanism in place, so Supreme Court had no choice but to step in, what we need is an independent accountability bureau, and then only we will start getting somewhere, Regarding the Judiciary they are doing a great job under the leadership of Chief Justice of Pakistan, but they also need to work on two thing otherwise they will also lose credibility.
I don’t understand why they don’t peruse any of the 38 cases pending against Nawaz Sharif, I am told that most of them Mr. Sharif had taken a stay order, well maybe its time that Supreme Court should start talking sue motto in those cases as well, Asqar Khan petition is moving with a snail pace, while the reason have been that files have disappeared, Hamid Mir and other journalist have the copies of files with them, how long will it take the supreme court to get a copy, or give a dead line to interior secretary to provide the documents or he should be punished like the court have done in other cases, if that does not happened then PPP is right that the court is only doing selective accountability and one has to agree to that since Nawaz Sharif is as corrupt as Asif Zaedari, they are two sides of the same coin.
The second thing Supreme Court has to immediately take action is the High Court’s don’t have enough judges and people are waiting for their cases to be heard for years and justice delayed is justice denied, so they should take that up as a priority along with lower judiciary which needs total overhauling and most people go to lower judiciary and nothing has been done on that level, the superior judiciary needs to address that immediately so the suffering of the common man is addressed.
We all understand that Judiciary has to take the constitutional petitions, but these don’t really effect the day to day affairs of the common man, what they want is the solution of their cases at the lower level, I think only 2% of the people can afford to go to Supreme Court with the fees of the lawyers running in millions now a days, so they need to add to their list the common mans problems as a priority. As a Nation we are all proud of our Superior Judiciary and what they have achieved, but let’s not forget that they have reached this point only because the people were on their side, and they should also think about them now.
Regarding allotments of plots to Politicians, not a single plot should be given to them, every five years a different MNA is elected from the same seat, you will give him a plot, this is political bribery and needs to be stopped immediately. As for Judges, Bureaucrats, if one residential plot is allotted to them for their service to the Nation and only to those who have completed their full tenure, because they have given their life to the nation, Regarding Journalist residential plots should only be given to those journalist who are not Anchors, producers, auditors, but to those lower journalists who are camera man, who are small time reporters, who are working behind the scene to get the story out, and not to those who are already making millions in salary, then it becomes a bribe, if the lower class of journalist who risk their life’s to get the story for the people are given plots that should be acceptable to the masses.
