As a human rights activist she always felt victorious standing on high moral ground without her own accountability. She claims to have spent 50 years of her life for human rights. What a waste of time? She has miserably failed in the most important test of her calibre and experience She never pleaded for Haqqani. All she talked about was civil and military tussle and wanted a reward for her part in the struggle for restoration of judiciary. She reminds me of the parriot that demands reward after every act.

asma Jehangir on several occasions has said the the “legal commmunity is divided on this issue ” and that she is “amazed that the SC ruling was unanimous and the judgement smells of rotten eggs…..
ms Jehangir is totally wrong…….she is just making an inference that suits her and her sense of loss of the case….
free judges and their judgements must be respected being the only pillar of democracy in Pakistan……
in the past she never vehemently pursued the “missing persons cases”…..and quietly accepted the fate when a Parliamentary Committee looked into the case and never made any recommendations or pursued the case further………..like SC judgements and Parliamentary Recommendations……the Govt never implemented any one of them…….

if the SC or the Parliament/Govt are expectin that the Canadian Comp. is going to hand over that Blacberry Records..then they will be dissapointed becase That Company will not give those records…….;based in Canada such companies are governed by Canadian Laws…that have strict client privacy regulations…..of course 2 people talking on Blackberry or a cell phone can record and give those records to whoever……but the Maufacturer and its Database records will never be disclosed……unless the Canadian Govt itself requests that item and that too they will need a Canadian Court Order to do so…..since those conversations took place outside Canada and whatever crime occured outside Canadian Govt will not seek a court order on behalf of Pakistan as Canada has no such interest in this case and no Canadian Laws were broken

Nagging Woman
Well Asma you may not have trust in the commission formed by the Supreme Court but people of Pakistan do and want to see progress on this sensitive issue. I don’t know what makes you a renowned lawyer but we do know you as an activist on human rights.
Haqqani picked up an incompetent lawyer who is sobbing on her defeat. She is more of a nagging woman then a competent lawyer. The court was not under the influence of the establishment but you had no fires and crackers in your defense strategy. You simply made derogatory remarks. You impressed none. You wanted Supreme Court to give a verdict in your favor and wanted General James Jones’ affidavit to be treated as bible. Please do not disgrace our army generals. Please remember ISI keeps an eye on enemies of the state as well as high level individuals as a matter of routine. Spies always have an element of surprise and secrecy. How could Pasha tell Gilani that he wanted to go abroad to find out what their cook Haqqani was cooking? How could Pasha tell Gilani when army already knew that PPP had given green signal for 2nd May attack?
If the government, politicians, lawyers and losers disobey and ridicule highest court of the country then it is anarchy and collapse of civil rule. Dysfunctional civil rule is replaced by another set of rules which we generally refer to as Martial Law. Where will the dysfunctional civilian government go for relief after all this? To Supreme Court? And for what?
Supreme Court decision is in national interest as it has simply blocked moves to sweep highly sensitive national security issue under the carpet. The government’s conduct is clearly dubious in Memogate scandal. Haqqani is staying in President House or Prime Minister House which is highly undesirable. The moment Haqqani realizes that it is not just a storm in the tea cup but a real situation; he will voluntarily run to the spy agencies or court to tell nothing but the whole truth. Let us see how long it takes.
Asma has taken leave from this case as she knows that evidence is too strong to make a win before the commission or Haqqani needs a genuine lawyer. Probably Haqqani and his master want Aitzaz Ahsan to save their souls. Lately, Aitzaz Ahsan is getting more attention of the Ring Master.
The commission appointed by the Supreme Court comprises of highly regarded and competent judges. People of Pakistan want to know the facts, identification of criminals and subsequent punishment. No scapegoats are required and no compromise should be made at any level on any ground on national security.

I would respectfully disagree with a lot of things you have said. I can be wrong but I want to present a different angle.
I believe what we are taught about army is correct. I believe army is the only thing keeping Pakistan safe. Now a lot of Generals and top command of the army is corrupt but whose duty is to keep them in check. Our political leadership come in to power just to steal what rightfully belongs to people of Pakistan. Let us take away Army from Pakistan under current situation, Zardari and Gillani will sell the country with in moments.
I agree Army’s corruption should be eliminated but who will do that. Those who are responsible for keeping the check come in to power and make corrupt Generals like Zia and Musharraf the COAS by throwing away the merit in Garbage. And when these political forces bring Corrupt Generals on top, a chain reaction is started. Obviously the corrupt COAS will bring corrupt people in the chain of command.
If our political leadership becomes honest, they will be able to bring army under pressure on the corruption issue. I believe these political leaders are the main source of problem.
As far as Asma Jahangir is concerned, I am a little confused. She takes side of the political leadership of Pakistan, invites the corrupt people like Gillani on her social gatherings (her daughter’s wedding) and then blames courts and Army for all the wrong doings. I honestly believe that we need honest political leadership who have some moral authority to challenge Armed forces ways.
Army is only one institution that is working to some extent ( I must agree that the high command of the army is not doing its job properly) and whenever people like Asma Jahangir talk against Army, few doubts come in to my mind. I will not label her as traiter and no one has right to do so but I always wonder what her motives are.
Politicians are soft target but they are the only ones who are in a position where if they want they can make things better in all institutions.
My prayers are with the Armed forces.

Well said. The latest study has revealed that army is the least corrupt institution of Pakistan. I agree with you that if we have honest and competent political leadership then military will not intervene or dominate. At present, army is being criticised for being tolerant when corrupt PPP government is destroying every institution of this country.
Asma has exposed herself in this interview. she kept talking about her philosophy on army dominance instead of pleading Haqqani’s case. I think Haqqani is the victim of her stupidity and blood pressure. Probably this is the first and last high profile case that Asma has handled.

This woman was in India at the time of the Bombay incident. Just go to you tube and read her comments.
She is an asset, but not a Pakistani one. Her ‘courage’ emanates from some foreign lands, and the generosity of the courts… the Pakistani courts who have decided to practise freedom of speech, even though this woman is damaging Pakistani State instituitions like the Armed Forces and the entire system of justice.

he has yet to be judged guilty of anything…….except that the Prime Minister when made him resign from his post……clearly shows some kind of wrong-doing…futhermore living with the PM/President makes the PM/President complicit in whatever it is that was so serous that the PM made him resign…

Before We was listening that Justice is Blind. But now I am thinking Asma Jahangeer is also blind. She does not know that Husain Haqani was before involved in many actionS against Pakistan millitary like he wrote many things in American Jurnals against Pakistani ISI and Millitary.
Thanks GOD memmo was discovered before it effect Pakistan and its people badly. Shell the court start taking action after the destruction of Pakistan, then no one can catch any responsible person , they all will run to America.
The Brain of Asma Jahangeer is very small As compare to Chief Justice and full court and millitry chief and ISI Chief. It is shame full that she is talking against all of them where her witness is equal to Half Man (QURAN). And I am sure Chief Justice and court knows more about the Fundamental Rights of People then Her.
I want to ask, did chief Justice said even any bad words against Husain Haqanni ???, I think no, He only stoped him for investigation, He is staying in Presedent house, Our POLICE is beating many poor people before any small allegation is proved against them, Asma is not saying any thing about that, whats wrong if Husain Haqanni will stay in Pakistan for a month for Investigation.
